You can basically combine the Jrue and KP trades as they happened so close to each other and with the same assets.
KP trade for BOS:
BOS: KP, '23 first (from MEM, #25 overall), '24 first top 4 protected (from MEM but its GSW pick)
MEM: Marcus Smart
WAS: Tyus Jones (from MEM), Gallinari (from BOS), Muscala (from BOS), 2023 2nd (from Boston#35 overall)
Then later the Jrue trade:
BOS: Jrue Holiday
POR: Brogdon, Robert Williams III, '24 FRP from GSW, and a 2029 FRP unprotected.
That #25 pick from the 2023 NBA draft was the pick Boston was going to use on OMax, only for the Mavs to swoop in at the last second and grab him at #24. BOS then traded that pick to the Pistons for 2 2nds. The most favorable of the DET, GSW, or WAS 2nd in 2025. And the most favorable of the MIN, NOP, NYK, or POR 2nd in 2026.
Net trades:
BOS in: KP+Jrue+2 future 2nds.
BOS out: Smart, Brogdon, Williams III, Gallo, Muscala, 2024 FRP via GSW, 2023 FRP via MEM, 2029 FRP unprotected, and a 2023 2nd (#35)
Celtics gave up a LOT. But they also got a lot back. Brogdon was the reigning 6MOY. Timelord was in the running for DPOY. Smart was their 3rd best player. But KP fits well there. It was a calculated risk and its worked out for them. Great GM'ing by Brad.
