MAVS NEWS: Luka Wins Community Cares Award! | DLive's Mom Passes Away
(01-09-2024, 11:20 PM)Chicagojk Wrote: Omax and Greg Brown with strong performances for the G-league team tonight.

What is Greg Brown's ideal way to make the NBA roster.  Is it Derrick Jones type player or is it a small ball 5?  Only 6'7 but plays bigger.

I don’t think there’s any question about his position. He’s a center.

Holmes is unhappy with his role.

On the subject of Grant Williams, one Mavs source I talked to recently about him said the concern is that Williams has never been asked to play this many minutes and be in shape to do so that has caused some regression from his early start...#MFFL

The thread title attributes the idea that GW is out of shape to Kidd. Did he really say that? I don't see a quote or a link to something Kidd said. Please remove it, if it's just some gratuitous Kidd-bashing trope.

I am as disappointed as anyone over GW. But I don't like fake news, if that's what this is.

No he didn't. My bad brochacho. I didn't hit my backspace key enough. The GW being fat comes from Kevin Gray from 97.1. The 2 posts previous to yours shows the quote and source!

  10. Seth Curry (268.75)
  11. Josh Green (268.88)

EPM ranking is a little different:

1. Luka (5)
2. Kyrie (33)
3. Lively (65)
4. Exum (91)
5. Powell (120)
6. DJJ (123)

The rest are much lower.  This stat is fickle though.  History says Timmy will likely end up in the Powell/DJJ range by the end of the season.  His DEPM is wildly lower than normal.  History says that GWill will be higher eventually as well, but EPM has never been a big fan of him.

Lively is crazy good for a rookie.  Chet and Victor are the only rookies higher.

It's about winning in the long term. If Luka is crippled by the playoffs, they won't win jack there.

7-15 guys plus a '27 1st (swaps if the player is that good) should be our offer for the "missing PF".

After the MEM game, Josh needs a fresh place. He was frustrated and punched a chair several times after being subbed out.

Tim should be replaced as well for a 6th man that can create for himself (see Clarkson).

Curry is unplayably bad. He is done in the league, glad that it's a team option for next year.

Grant is out of shape and out of place. Should be a filler for a bigger salary.

Hardy is the one I hold most hope and would like to keep, but has to get more burn, Kidd playing Curry (done) is not helping his development.

Doncic/Exum
Irving/Hardy
DJJ
PF/Kleber
Lively/Powell
We just paid a whole lot of money to a guy that went 9-29 (31%) on FG and 3-20 (15%) 3-pt% in both our win or go home elimination games last couple of playoffs. SMH

Luka, Exum out for tomorrow's game. Green, Maxi and Lively are questionable.

Just random bad luck with injuries or should we be questioning our new training staff?

Maxi upgraded to questionable, so looks like he might start playing soon, if not already tomorrow.

It's becoming increasingly obvious that the 1st qtr is the most important qtr for these Mavs. You can tell whether they're engaged, or their heads are elsewhere. They also have lost the comeback gene. They had 4 wins in the 1st 9 games when trailing by 10+. They are 0-14 since

@noahweber00

Jason Kidd’s initial thoughts on the loss:

“We just couldn’t compete and our physicality wasn’t there tonight.”

When asked about why it wasn’t there, Kidd responded with “you’ve got to ask them, I’m just the coach.”

Also talked about Dallas’ “tired bodies” and being small.
