MAVS NEWS: Luka Wins Community Cares Award! | DLive's Mom Passes Away
(11-28-2023, 07:41 PM)Jym Wrote: New owner already showing incredibly bad decision making to let Cuban run their team
LOL. Quick check-ups reveals following.

Miriam Adelson sold $2B worth of casino shares. If we assume the Mavs are maybe worth a maximum of $4B, then we are talking roughly 50%.

Now the good news: The Las Vegas Aces and Las Vegas Knights are two of the best run franchises in the WNBA and NHL.

Knights since their inception been to NHL finals, first round, conference finals, conference finals, 9th, won Stanley Cup.
Aces since their relocation to Vegas have been missed play-offs, conference finals, finals, conf. finals, won title, won title.

So they have an excellent track record of winning. They are also based out of Vegas and have an 100% track record of starting or relocationing their franchises to Las Vegas (Raiders, Aces, Knights).

To sum up, if they get 51% control...

- they know their sh*t  and they won´t accept Marc´s mediocrity BS for long

- say goodbye to the DALLAS Mavericks and start a support group with Super Sonics fans

I absolutely loved JKidd's response to MacMahon after the Rockets game.

EPM metric has Doncic at +5.1 and Kyrie at +3.3. rest of the team (of our main rotation) is as follows (of 378 players total):

Hardaway - 164th at -1.2
Lively - 169th at -1.3
Williams - 181st at - 1.6
Jones Jr. - 182nd at -1.6
Powell - 274th at - 3.0
Green - 295th at - 3.5

Is it that hard to add a top 100 player to our starting lineup? Not that this metric is the truth, but feels weird having two top 25 players and have that big of a drop off.
We just paid a whole lot of money to a guy that went 9-29 (31%) on FG and 3-20 (15%) 3-pt% in both our win or go home elimination games last couple of playoffs. SMH

This is a combination of small sample and the fact that our defense has been terrible (we are too small) and its dragging everyone's defensive metrics way below their career levels.

That being said, this team does really need a number 3.

WOW!

When was the last time Kidd swore like that? I can't even remember.

What's interesting is Lebron's response to all this:

@KingJames
For J to curse you know he wasn't happy at all! I don't think I ever heard him curse. I mean from competing vs him, teamming up with him and playing for him. Never! He was HOT and quite frankly RIGHT!! Love J Kidd!

It's good, but all stuff super Mavs fans already know.

Not quite as interesting as Cuban's episode was, imho, but still a fan watch.

Lively already #3. Rating 169th in the first 6 weeks of his rookie year at age 19? That’s legendary. He’ll be top 60 (a true #3) in no time.

Powell with the 5th best score on the team? Hm.

Agreed on Lively.  What I meant was basically a two way wing.

The Powell thing is a combination of small sample, analytics always loving Powell, and the reality that a lot of our defensive issues with the second unit is due to everyone being collectively too small as opposed to it all being Powell's fault.

First it was Cuban now Dirk is on "All The Smoke" with Matt Barnes and SJax. It's always a good watch with those guys.

Nice write up on Lively by Hollinger in his athletic column today. It is behind a paywall

In the same piece he mentions that OKC renegotiated the next year guarantee for Bertans up by $250k and in exchange, Bertans removed the games played trigger that would guarantee the entire 24/25 salary.  He's playing well and this keeps OKC from having to play games with his games played for financial reasons.

I've heard of him doing that, but it's the first I've seen it in writing, telling him not to draft him. Another franchise-changing gaffe by Cuban. Sorry if I'm a few years too late.

OKC is going to use his salary in a move right?  Having him rehab a little may or may not help.    But depending how aggressive they want to get they can probably get a near all star player and still have a ton of picks still coming to them.   The question is who is that player and do they really need to make a move with how their youngsters are growing together?
