AROUND the NBA: MIN Sweeps PHX!
(03-14-2023, 09:37 AM)HoosierDaddyKid Wrote: I'm from Detroit and I follow the Pistons closely as my second team. Eugene Omoruyi has really played well for them. I think he's a keeper and Detroit will sign him to a standard NBA contract, waive someone and keep him after his 2nd 10-day is up. He hustles, rebounds, plays with energy, and has a really decent shot and post-game. Dallas had him and let him get away (sounds familiar) Really surprised OKC waived him, but they have good young players and draft capital, so it's understandable they can't keep everybody.
He has been my favorite player to watch for ever since he hit the court the first time here. Every time I see he’s available I think to myself, why is Theo Pinson still on this team?

As a matter of fact, Pistons have one of the other guys I’m hyper alert to in Isaiah Stewart. With Wiseman’s work there I would hope we kick the tires on him!

WCJ is the 3rd guy I stay on the lookout for.

This is the exact type of player Dallas needs to sign/find.

Professional, smart, long, can fit with different lineups, etc

8 million is not a lot, but will be more than we can offer this year.  But if we found 2-3 of these type of players in the next few years, our fortunes would look much better.

I don’t remember him being considered a good defender. Has he turned that leaf? If not, the word “exact” is quite a bit more than I would use.

I figured Slow-mo was going to be a bad overpay for Min. I felt his lack of speed would really limit his effectiveness. I guess Finch has figured out how to use him.

Maybe he isn’t.  To be honest, I didn’t even look at any of the defensive stats.  I thought he looked pretty good in our last game against Minny though.  At least he has length.  But maybe he is god awful on defense and I am wrong.

He was just as effective in Memphis. They didn't want to lose him, but they wanted the young guys to play. He's a good role player no doubt.

I read earlier in the week that he would have signed for the BAE with the clippers this off-season but they chose Wall.  Did we even try with him?  We could have offered the same BAE salary.  He got more with the Knicks but playing with a supposed contender and maybe being a starter should have been intriguing for him.

Hard to imagine that his $275m investment will be worth less than a billion today.

Crazy how fast Lonzo has fallen. Dude might have to medically retire at this point. Just a sad situation. The fact he's going to be out next season before this season is even done with is mindboggling.

Wow, that is a surprise. I was under an impression they are trying to trade him

Lemme guess..
Jason Kidd wanted McGee being a player who he knew well.
No one else to go after, since the coach-GM-wannabe has his sights fixed already.
And Nico sadly doesn't know how to negotiate and gave McGee a 3 year deal.

So yeah, even before the season starter, JKidd has damaged the team's chances.
One of the many reasons to kick him out.
The sooner the better.

Same thing happened to Brandon Roy of Portland. He had degenerative knees that would never heal correctly after surgery. Was forced to retire before he reached his prime. Too bad because I believe he was on his way to being a all-star SG.

Probably the best for all parties.   He hasn't gotten nearly the blame that he should have.  He has been pretty bad as an owner.  A fresh start is for the best.   Plus, he appears to take losses pretty hard....and they have had a ton of them.

Probably to avoid giving him this extension. Unlike the Mavs, they know they can't let him get away for nothing.

I really do think Simmons is going to be out of the league after this contract. Dude looks cooked.

Dennis Smith Jr will have a longer NBA career than Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball.  That is a wild fact because after he left the Mavs, it looked like Dennis was going to be out of the league.
