Looney

Oladipo

Have we ever had odds on this kind of FA before?  They’re not stars but they are potential difference makers.

What a fun 'day before the day'!  Stuff happening left and right.

Two centers on the list.  Surely Looney commands the full MLE which means...Powell to Detroit Indy Somewhere confirmed.

If the Mavs are far enough under the apron to use the full MLE, the whole world changes. They are also able to consider big money free agents via SNT. And they would have a sizable TPE in pocket, too, created by whatever transaction got them such a huge payroll reduction -- or they could use the TPE immediately by rolling it into the same deal.

For example, using the idea of THJ to DET, and rolling that into the Brunson transaction--- if you tied a SNT into that deal, you can sign someone making almost 25M in 1st year salary. The world changes.

Maybe we will get our money's worth out of the new cap guru.  I suspect they are as motivated as they've ever been for a PR win to announce while waiving good bye to Jalen.  I don't think it will be that hard to get there.  The question is 'at what cost'?

A couple of questions regarding Frank (since we are so close to the apron).  If we let his $2.0mm NG go and sign him to the minimum (his minimum), how much does his new contract count against the apron?  Also, would we still have his EB rights?  Thanks in advance.

Bleacher Report says Brunson will meet with Heat also. That would have to be a SnT, right?

That's just a token meeting to make the tampering less overt.

Dallas should have already had their answer.  Weird.

Not sure who we would even want from the Heat other than Herro and that’s probably not happening. Butler and Bam aren’t going anywhere. Good call on the “token” meeting.

If for some weird reason Jalen went to Miami you could use it get off Bertans probably.

I liked Knox in that draft. Turns out he sucks so shows what I know about evaluating players in the draft.

Marc Stein on Twitter: "There is obviously scant optimism in Dallas that anything can be done at this juncture to dissuade Jalen Brunson from signing with New York on a four-year deal worth at least $100 million, but sources say Brunson's camp sought the meetings with Dallas and Miami and now has them." / Twitter

On second thought....

"Brunson's camp" = Rick. Almost certainly all for show to avoid the tampering charge. But whatever.
