Yeah, a few big-market teams could certainly benefit from this. But don't be surprised if they also dump their own high-priced guys.

That accounts for about 40% of team revenues. And with luxury tax thresholds tied to revenue, a dropping cap could crush teams financially. For example, some projections have Golden State facing a potential luxury tax payment of $160 million! So hearing that they're discussing ways for teams to lessen their cap burden doesn't surprise me. Honestly, I also won't be surprised if we hear about the league figuring out a way to share the burden of the amnestied salaries to relieve the pressure on cash-strapped teams.
Thinking positively, giving Dallas the option to amnesty Powell if they need extra cash in 2021 isn't such a terrible development.
