IMO, a stud defensive "stopper" is only a needle mover in reality if the other elements of his game are proficient enough for him to be to play in your "best 5" lineup, or at least be one of your 6-7 best overall players. Guys who fit that bill are so rare that it's kind of like saying "get a superstar." Easier said than done.
Give me a two-way player who doesn't suck on defense and works really, really hard on that end.
