The Mavs need a shakeup of some sort. Things are not correcting themselves with time.

I continue to see promise on the defensive side of things. At times it IS atrocious, but I see stretches that are very promising.

Defense was NOT what lost this game.

I need to re-watch the game and I won't, but I didn't have a problem with the defense.   KD hit big shots to start the fourth quarter and Mavs decided to double him.  When you do that and the other team is smart, others are going to get looks.  The Nets got into a rhythms in fourth.  There were a couple easy baskets, but I really had no problem with the defense.   They are lucky the Nets didn't shoot better.  There is nothing you can do to stop KD.  You just have to hope he misses.

The amount of wide open threes missed in the 4th is what missed this game.  I’ve always been a Hardaway supporter but he’s been a giant problem this year.

Agree. Offensive flow was good. Maybe the best of the season. They created open 3s. Even got the Doncic/Powell pick and roll going again. Well timed cuts lead to easy scoring opportunities in the paint.
Only problem. The Mavs cannot make a shot outside of 20ft.

Ouch

Can't say he's lying. He called out Anthony Davis when the game first came on.

Hardaway had a real good shot on the last shot.  But how much confidence did I have that he would make it?  0%.

I honestly think the poor shooting is largely a placebo effect right now....

....the Mavs believe they are going to miss and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Sry guys but I disagree. Just because they run around with more effort than under Carlisle it doesnt mean its better. Its just hustle, but if its not in the correct place at the correct time its just wasted energy. And it shows on the other end.

And dont bring up Green and Nikitlina. They are end bench players for 10 minutes a game. Our starting 5 (bar DFS) cant defend for shit. Its worse than last 2 years.

We held the Nets to 102 points. Defense clearly did its job.

Also, Charles Barkley is there for entertainment. Claiming we’ve wasted a career of someone who is 22 years old is a little absurd guys…

Not really. Nets played as much as they had to. They can do a lot better. Pretty sure KD would put 60 on this team easily if he had to.

Also just to add. I believe shots will start falling at some point, but it wont make a big difference in W-L column.

I guess we are just seeing different things.

Barkley is good friends with Dirk and knows the franchise wasted the end of Dirk's prime.

So…you’re saying KD chose to not put 60 on us and the Nets won by 3 because they they simply wanted to…

And in a game where we lose by 3 and shot 9 for forty freaking six from deep, we wouldn’t win if we hit more shots…

Must be seeing different things indeed.

A team that loves 3-pt shooting as much as these Mavs really traded away an ELITE shooter for pretty much nothing  Huh All to satisfy their ongoing obsession with these "3 and D" players AKA overrated defenders and fool's gold shooters

Damn.  The Mavs whiffed on another off-season. We have a full blown unmitigated disaster on our hands.  That octopus that used to predict soccer games could do a better job with roster management.
