It´s easy to say Trade KP, but would you be satisified with a return like

Bagley + Thompson + Len + Ramsey + top 7 protected 1st round pick
Bamba + Harris + top 7 protected 1st round pick

Would you do these trades? Cause there is no Ben Simmons or Damian Lillard walking through that door.

At that point you can´t half arse this either. That means you add another lottery protected 1st round pick for THJ/Kleber this year.

Would you do these trades?

Not sure, but probably. 

I definitely would've done those trades or others like them at last year's trade deadline, and then would have taken my chances moving those multiple, smaller contracts this past summer in an effort to remake my team when I had some flexibility left. 100% I would've done that. 

Instead, the Mavs went and got a coach with the mandate of "make it work with KP." And, honestly, it HAS been more successful than I expected, but it's not going to get them a championship, I don't think. 

KP and Luka are not on this team together when the Mavs next find themselves in contention. I'm pretty sure about that. I am reminded of Andy and Red from Shawshank Redemption:

With Luka, KP and WCS out this should mean Brunson runs the show and at least 20 minutes each for Ntilikina, Green, Omoruyi and Moses Brown.

Reality will probably be 20 minutes each for Burke, Sterling Brown, Powell and Boban, cause they are the future of this franchise.

Either way it will be a loss.
