GAME 7: MIA (6-1) @ DAL (4-3) | 110-125 Loss
#61
Through 3 quarters....

MIA: 54% FG, 61% 3P, 18 FTs

DAL: 45% FG, 36% 3P, 18 FTs

Difference is shot making. MIA has made a LOT of difficult shots. DAL has missed a LOT of open looks. Mavs aren't getting outplayed IMO and still have a chance to pull this out if the shot-making fortunes switch.

Luka icing his right knee on the bench....that explains the mystery pain we have seen him in this season.

Ntilikina's point of attack D can be difference making.

SB's lack of shooting is killing the bench squad for games now.

Mavs missing wide open threes.....MIA hitting threes with hands in their face. The difference.

Mavs down to 33% on threes...crazy how bad they have been on open threes this year.

Lowry has been great for them.

His 5-8 threes has been killer.

Herro has been the REAL difference though IMO. Mavs been killed whenever he has played.

Make that 6-9 on threes for Lowry and Mavs down to 32% on threes....

I thought the Mavs would get off to a good start with brunson starting with Luka, but I thought we would get worn down.  With Brunson starting we really need struggle to find bench points.   Plus if the Heat make their shots that is a bad sign because you know they are going to get a lot of baskets at the rim while Dallas doesn't get many.

For years I have been wanting players who put force on a defense.  Lowry does this even if he is small.

It is tough to make to much out of this loss as the Mavs were short handed.  We really need time to evaluate KP.   Hopefully that happens.

I am glad Brunson got the start.   If Goran ever winds up here and he has anything left, I would prefer starting Jalen and have Hardaway and Goran come off the bench.

Mavs talent needs to improve to play against these types of teams. Miami is there.

Luka is the only Mav who would start on MIA....

My Gawd the Mavs blow this year. And even worse, the opportunity to improve, during Luka’s rookie contract, has come and gone. This is peak Mavericks for the next few years. All improvement will have to be internal.  The KP contract is a franchise killer.

Without Kp and Maxi, we weren't beating an engaged Miami team.   Ideally if KP is a 4 or 5, the Mavs need another starting caliber front court player.   Powell can be your fourth big (overpaid, but good for that role).

Ugh...but it is all moot if KP can't get on the court.

On offense they

- start the game with Butler getting to the line on 3-4 times in the 1st
- Lowry with a big performance
- steady production from Bam
- Herro killing it

Defensively they can throw a ton of different, capable defenders at Luka.

The more talented team just won tonight. It’s that simple.

Story of the game tbh.

Sterling Brown is so bad.

I actually thought he was ok tonight.  He needs to shoot better but I like how he competed.  I think he has a chance to be a positive impact here.   Needs to shoot better though.
