Right now we are trying to split 144 minutes between Doncic ( 30), Brunson (30), DFS (30), THJ (24), Bullock (20), Brown (12), Green (12), Ntilikina (8). That´s 166 minutes, if you shift Doncic/DFS to some minutes at PF this barely works out. Where does Satoransky factor in?
Maybe in a THJ cap configuration trade Satoransky is an option. Also if he needed a winning team to re-vitalize him, he can just do it on the Pelicans. They started 1-12 without Ingram. Since Nov. 13th they are 13-13. 11-9 in their last 20 games. They continue that form they could sneak into the play-in.
We need a better PF/C as injury insurance for Porzingis, Kleber with Powell as the 3rd option at the moment. Right now Marquese Chriss is our 4th option. Boban, WCS and M. Brown are simply not there (yet).
The point of the trade isn't Sato. It is creating a spot for Chriss...our fourth option at PF. BTW, Sato and a second could be turned into Thaddeus Young. That's actually the guy you want if you want to add a PF.
If Burke is in the outgoing, you don't have a guy who can really orchestrate the O should Luka or Brunson get dinged. None of THJ, DFS, Bullock, Brown, Green or Ntilikina has averaged 9 or 10 assists in a year like Sato has.
