I think that many things about Donnie's departure and Nico's hiring, including how Cuban's rhetoric has changed post transition, has vindicated things that you've been saying for a long time about the Mavs front office. So you have a track record of being on point regarding front office critique. And any comment from me comes from me on this particular topic is informed by very little information (basically this thread).
Having said all that, my sheepish answer to all your questions above is just this (which is kind of what I already said): I don't think information gathering is the same thing as the actual valuation. My critique, or unexpert advice to the Mavs, would be to not limit your research to just one, third party, source.
