I think the Mavs could theoretically....

1) Sign and trade KP for Kawhi

2) Sign and trade for JC

3) Resign THJ

....right? Because they would be over the cap through that, right?

Let´s be honest. Kawhi has been playing on a bum leg for 2-3 years. He´s a headcase, too. Age 30, now he has a torn ACL, which will likely rule him out for the complete next season. He just navigated his way to LA like it will be his final stop. He simply needs to create some leverage, especially if he´s looking for a fully guaranteed 160/4 extension here.

Mavs will trade KP for Kawhi.
Trade JRich for either Dinwiddie or Oubre.
Re-sign Hardaway.
Have over-the-cap exceptions to fill out the rotation.

Nope. If there is no JC, then Nico isn't doing his job right.

It's a beautiful dream.

Haha, I don't mean that seriously. I LOVE JC and want him on DAL, but I am not "JC or bust."

I think people are reading too much into the "not interested in KP" part without processing the "at least involving their picks" qualifier. To me, that's just an indication that GS is holding out for an even bigger name like Dame or Beal with their top trade assets.

Interesting, so Stein's comments today blow up and he tweets that he didn't mean to report anything new. Nothing to see here.

That's fair. The reports definitely point that this is GSW's goal. But I think they are DELUSIONAL on the value of #7 and #14 and Wiseman.

My point: GSW doesn't HAVE anything of value outside of #7 and #14, so if they aren't interested in KP for picks they aren't really interested in him.

Stein doubling down on Kawhi to LAC not being a foregone conclusion is not "nothing."

Delusional about that being enough to get Lillard or Beal...agreed.

Just to clarify, are you saying it's delusional of them to think they can do better than KP with that package? I'm not so sure I can agree with that so quickly.

Delusional IF they think Lillard or Beal are what they are getting with that.

They might be able to do better than KP, but #7 and #14 are statistically pretty "meh" picks. Top 5 pick? Totally different.
