As great as Luka is now, NBA players still know the circle of life and you can't skip experience in the league (ex: MJ, LeBron, Giannis not winning championships until many years in the league).
A player that is 30 or older now realizes that it's better to join a team with another veteran star since their window is much shorter than Luka's right now.
Yup. Veterans usually flock to a superstar player's team when they have actually proven something in the league.
Luka is a stat stuffing 2nd round virgin who has already found difficulty meshing with another star talent in KP thus far. Add in the fact that he is non-AAU, European and it's a steeper uphill battle than we'd like to admit.
Good news is we'd at least potentially dodge the Lowry bullet. The next couple summers look a lot better if Mavs really want to go star chasing or make a couple big splashes.
