Does this mean Cahrlotte is out of the Richaun Holmes sweepstakes?
Anything the Kings did today that indicates RH is staying with them?
Looks like they want to move Hield in order to re-sign him.

It's still incredible what a dumb own goal the Powell contract was. Even without the injury, he wouldn't have gotten half that on the open market.

Don't worry - they'll put that to shame with THJ's contract this summer. And just like Powell, they'll tell us he's a starter.

Nothing, actually. They still need to clear cap space to resign him. Bagley and or Hield were not moved

Pipe Dream scenario - Mavs stay over the cap and poach Holmes with the full MLE...
IF you could convince THJ to take the MLE equivalent for a 1yr contract, and then dump WCS and/or Burke would that leave enough space to snipe Holmes?? That would then leave Kleber and Powell to work toward a (Sign and Trade??) deal to bring back a larger salary. Because this is the about the only way I see cap space being remotely successful.

And they drafted someone who will get minutes at center this season. Given the Mitchell pick at nine, Hield and or Wright are still possibilities for cap clearing trades. But, even that doesn't guarantee Holmes returns.
Charlotte probably took themselves out of the running to be Holmes's Home. Unfortunately, Toronto didn't. Even if Scotty Barnes can some day be a small ball five, he's not there right now. Siakam got a few minutes at C as did Boucher and Birch. What do they need more if Lowry leaves...another center on a big contract? Or, a guard who pushes Trent Jr. to the bench (Ball?). Of course, if Siakam is traded, it changes everything.
Here is a write-up on the C the Kings took at 39:
39. Sacramento Kings
Neemias Queta | 7-0 C | 21 years old | Utah State
Vecenie’s Ranking: 55
There is a lot to like about Queta, largely because of the defense. He’s very good inside. He has a case as being the best interior defender in this class because of how good he is at contesting at the basket and staying vertical while doing so. Few players possess tools like this and use them to the level of effectiveness that Queta is capable of. Throw in his passing, and there is a potential role as a backup center if things go right. It’s not impossible he could start some games; the lack of lateral quickness gives me real pause here. Teams are really going to try to get him away from the rim and force him to defend in space.
Hollinger’s team fit: Hooray Kings! I have been driving the Queta bandwagon all year and had him rated 21st on my board, but most NBA teams seemed less excited about him. He has developmental upside but also has enough skill as a passer and rim protector to play minutes immediately and not kill them, plus the Kings obviously have a need for a big 5 right now. I think Sacramento got really good value here.

I will be real interested in what Toronto does. They surprised last night with Barnes. I thought they were going to take the PG Cooper in the second round but they went with a bigger guy who can also handle the ball. They drafted Malachi Flynn last year and he had some moments last year. But when I saw their name tied to Lonzo with 3-4 other teams, that really made me think. I expected Masai to think big. I thought the first target would be Ben, but I was curious what the next step is. The Lonzo blurb is really interesting.

NO didn't really have to create cap room to do a S&T of Ball for Lowry unless it was just to create the threat of an outright signing (and it doesn't hurt their future budget). If Toronto gets Ball over the cap, they also have the MLE to add someone like Theis. I think that makes more sense for them than $18mm for Holmes. The wild card is still Siakam.
Let's say Dinwiddie to Washington, Paul stays in Phoenix and Conley stays in Utah. The secondary creator market is getting thin.

Yep, and the Knicks have a ton of cap room. What is their plan? They had a weird first round imo but really liked their second round picks. Are they going to go big with someone with their cap room. Who? And lets not forget about Miami. When they decide they want someone, they typically bat a good percentage. They have been a little quiet on Lowry recently and you have seen them mentioned with Simmons. But they may still get in the Lowry talks. It is tough to beat Miami.

Everything is still quiet on DeRozan front, once LA is out of picture

Fills me with a lot of confidence that LeCollusion signed Westbrook four weeks ago, while we are allegedly fighting with the Pelicans over who gets to grossly overpay Lowry. Maybe the official NBA tampering rules just make GMs better fax machines. It´s basically the players that do the actual recruitment. Draymond is probably working 24/7 on Beal to demand a trade, occasionally it is interrupted by a basketball game.

That´s probably our best bet now.

Draft night gave some action but there is still a lot open:
- Sexton is still in Cleveland
- looks like Charlotte is out of Holmes game, but might still do a trade (Turner?)
- Chicago still doesn't have a PG or cap space to sign FA one
- GSW didn't pull of a win now move
- Houston drafted two young centers. Could Wood be on the move?
- Indy was active but no real changes to their core
- Minnesota now needs a back up PG
- Portland didn't do anything yet and I guess it will be a tough sell to Lillard that running it back is best way forward
- Kings lost big time imho. Obviously wants to part with Bagley and Hield yet both are still there. Didn't create space to keep Holmes yet. They still have same limited team with probably toxic locker room
- Washington is building a big three of Beal, Hachimura and Dinwiddie that is hardly impressive.
So we can expect many more trades.

I also see Stein says 3 for $75M on Conley. So 3 for $90M on Lowry and 3 for $100M on Paul. Makes sense.
I think the Mavs will be able to swing a SnT for Lowry, re-sign THJ, use their MLE on OPJ, and BAE on another big.

If all three of the above were viable options for the Mavs, how would you (Bueller, anyone) rank them?

Conley in a heartbeat, and I don't do the others. That Conley contract can start at roughly 23. That gives us enough room to outbid the MLE teams on a second starter. It's also the only contract of the three that we can sign even if JRich opts in (and then we trade for a higher salary player). That would be a good offseason.
