Looking at team needs around their unique superstars, I wonder if there's some sort of deal out there between Dallas and the Pelicans involving KP/Maxi/Brunson for Ingram/Adams. The Pelicans get two frontcourt players who can spread the floor for Zion and a potential Ball replacement. And Dallas gets a major wing scorer and some muscle to set real picks for Luka.

I do think strangely enough that the Mavs best trade partners might be IN division....SAS and NOP are high on my list of trade partners this offseason.

Davis plans to turn down a $1.9 million qualifying offer from the Kings in order to become a restricted free agent, a league source told The Sacramento Bee. The 24-year-old guard will be seeking a new contract worth about $9 million per year, which would be slightly higher than the four-year, $34.6 million deal De’Anthony Melton signed with the Memphis Grizzlies in November.
The Kings have until Aug. 1 — the day before free agency begins — to extend a qualifying offer to Davis or he will become an unrestricted free agent. If the Kings tender a qualifying offer and Davis rejects it, he will enter restricted free agency, giving Sacramento the right to match any offer he receives.
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

Lillard on GSW, do they just want the league to hate them, more?

I suspect they want to win more.
But good luck with that with a Curry/Dame backcourt on defense. As I was typing that, I realized that they would be so crushingly dominant on offense that they could just play D'Antoni ball and win with it.

I am just jealous. I wish we had the assets to get him.

Yeah, straight up would be a dream. I doubt it happens, but I suppose I could talk myself into the idea that New Orleans talks themselves into the (incorrect) idea that KP would complement Zion.
Not interested in Adams unless it's on the humble/fairly cheap. Cheap enough to where he can come off the bench and be an afterthought when needs be.

Davis was a name I was interested in when he went undrafted. I thought he has looked really promising when I have seen him in both Toronto and Sacramento.
Although, I believe he had an off court issue. And it is worrisome the Raptors traded him for a second round pick. Maybe they didn't think they could keep him, but that is a little concerning.
He is a talented player though. Although he needs to firm up some of his game. Appears to be a wild colt out on the court at times.

Here are main points from Shams piece:
- Simmons available but asking price is high
- many believe Collins is max player, Dallas, Mia, SA, Minny interested
- Knicks frontrunners for Sexton
- Houston aggresive for #1, looking for Gordon trades
- Pels unlikely to match high offer for Ball, Bulls and Clippers most interested

Awesome thanks.
Any sense of what "high price" might be for Ben? Three 1sts high?

Of course. But no mention of additional draft compensation? Just a "comparable" player?
Because if the Mavs were trading Luka for example, they would want All Star player AND three firsts plus plus.

The 76ers have opened up trade conversations surrounding Simmons and have engaged with teams, sources told The Athletic. Those sources also say that teams that have engaged with the 76ers about Simmons have been met with a high price threshold for the three-time All-Star.
“(The 76ers) want an All-Star-caliber player in return,” one source with knowledge of the ongoing talks said.
Make no mistake: Interest across the league in Simmons remains robust. He’s turning just 25 this month, was an All-NBA team member in 2019-20, is a two-time All-Defensive first-team member and a Rookie of the Year award winner. Simmons is under contract through 2025, making him the type of superstar talent that rarely becomes available at an attainable price at this juncture of his career.

also from Shams article:
across the league, many believe Collins have increased his value as a maximum contract caliber player with his strong playoff run. Dallas, Miami, SA, and Minnesota are expected to show interest.
Knicks are the most aggressive trade suiter for Collin Sexton per sources.
Pelicans are unlikely to match a significant offer sheet on ball. Bulls and Clippers are expected among the teams interested in him.
Jeremiah Robinson Earl has impressed teams and continues to solidify a first round position.
Iasiah Todd is cancelling workouts because he is focused on teams with lottery picks.

I'm less excited by Collins with each passing day.
I was huge on him back when I thought he was disliked by ATL needlessly, but we've since learned that this isn't the case. I'm starting to worry that they understand him more than everyone else, and that Schlenk is going to screw someone and leave them holding the bag on a non-max player who is getting the max (if Dallas, that would make two such players, possibly).
Now, on the other hand, I would be over the moon with a Ben Simmons acquisition. THAT would be a major talent infusion, and this would become a different team overnight.
