A more blunt-spoken version of what I said...
I'm on board with a pretty much complete roster turnover this offseason - assuming the parts fit better/have more upside/work better as a team - aside from Luka and DFS. Let the continuity come from those two and from JJB sitting on the bench.

It was a beautiful dismantling job by a team that finally looks like it wants to win a championship and has the horses (in this injury-riddled season) to do it.

Am I the only one who has cooled on Collins? He's a good player but I don't want to pay him anything close to the max seeing how inconsistent he is in the playoffs with his scoring.

I also think the fit with Capela isn't ideal because Capela takes away the space for one of Collins' best skills (rim-running).

I view Love's contract as 10000x worse than KP.
People are making KP out to be a leper or something my god.

I think it's pretty safe to look at our roster and say it's a matter of how good 1) Luka is, and 2) our coach was.
The only long-term keeper I see aside from Luka is DFS. Oh, and JRich of course (knee-slap).
I say Kleber as well for now, unless you can turn him into Turner or Collins. The biggest Kleber problems was that he was injured in 2 (post) seasons in a row. Hopefully that trend doesn't continue ...
For 60-70 % of the season you could have made the argument that Kleber was our best role player. Lead the starters in on/off over DFS before the achilles issues started.
Kleber as a glue guy as important as DFS imo. If you get rid of Kleber you better make sure its for an upgrade.

Not necessarily. There's a player option for KP. If KP is healthy, a big if, there is 0 reason to think he doesn't opt out IMO.
Everyone still is completing overreacting to 1 series IMO as far as KP's actual game is concerned.

They're not really that good currently constructed. They just happen to have one of the top players in the game. He's the reason they went 7 games more than anything else. That roster needs overhaulin...

Aw, hell no. We're judging him on the whole past season. If his mobility loss after the meniscus tear is permanent, there's zero chance of him ever getting paid a contract more than $15 mil a season his next go-round, ergo there's zero chance he opts out.

Mobility loss after a meniscus tear is not a thing from everything I've ever seen with those type injuries. Chronic pain issues become a problem tho.
There was a discussion somewhere on one of these threads where several people talked about how they thought defense wasn't a lack of mobility but a lack of effort. KP clearly wasn't happy and when he's frustrated it shows on the court.
But I point to Gallonari as a guy who can score but not play defense that gets paid even with injuries. KP is better and younger.

I like your stuff and respect your opinions. I, myself, think there's 0 reason to think he doesn't opt IN. Given what we know today, I think the most likely scenario is that his next contract is going to be much more modest. He'll want to collect that last year of big money, imo, regardless of whether or not he's happy with whatever team is on the hook for it by then. That's my opinion, anyway.

Kamm said this, and I respect his opinions, too. But (and if I'm remembering this wrong, I apologize), I don't think "several people" is accurate. I assume we can add you to the list, and so that's at least two smart guys who believe this. I have no doubt that mindset played a significant part in KP's EXTREMELY disappointing season, but I think it's a jump to conclude it was 100% about external circumstances and his feelings about them. Hell, his physical problems and frustration with his own play probably contributed to his mindset, imo.
Your point about "chronic pain issues" and not "lack of mobility" is interesting, especially if the chronic pain is something that can go away with time and rehab (I don't know). Do you believe it can be improved? Personally, I would love to get behind ANY believable reason to hope that KP will ever again not look like a stiff, and my inability to find one has had me bummed about his future for months.

Isn't the simplest thing in the world CJ and one year from expiring Nurkic for KP and one year from expiring JRich?

Very simple, if the Mavs want CJ and the Blazers want KP. Good fit.
