I don't really have interest in Markkanen either. I can understand the appeal on that one though.
Thing is, Batum is a finishing move after you do all the rest of your off-season moves. At that point, the Mavs *could* look like a contender...

We need a finishing move as much as the Brooklyn Brawler.

I bet the contender he is on would give him the same contract I'd be willing to offer him. *shrug*

Since Dame wanted Kidd as head coach is it time to get the new management team in place so they can call the Blazers...

It's too bad Portland took CJ off the table. I think Simmons for CJ would have made Dame ask out of Portland once the season was over.

His final interviews after the season was over was a different tone and message...Blazer fans took note of what he said and were worried...
Now I see one more mistake or disappointment for him to say F it I want to go play for Kidd...me and Luka will be the best backcourt in the NBA...

It's an awful situation though. I love Dame's loyalty. He's probably the most Dirk-like superstar out there from that perspective.

That gets you a starting lineup of Holmes/DFS/Hayward/Luka/Ball. The bench would be light with just Maxi, Powell, Burke and the kids. Probably want to spend the exceptions on backcourt depth. Is it me or would that team be a lot of fun and contender worthy?
Hayward has been my favorite idea since the rumor Charlotte was open to moving him. Having him as the secondary scorer/playmaker would be huge for this roster. I'm not a fan of Lonzo, but there are a lot of potential follow-ups if you start with Hayward/Holmes. You would have space to make one other big signing (and maybe another smaller one if you're smart) and then have the room MLE to add depth. It's not hard to imagine building a legit contender that way.
I do think trading Brunson this offseason makes a lot of sense. If you can use him to land another starter, go for it. But even if he's used to dump Powell's contract, I think it would be worth it. That reduces the luxury tax burden in 2022 and makes it easier to re-sign DFS and use the MLE. The Mavs need a vet backup PG anyway.

I hear our new coach has a pretty good relationship with Horton-Tucker.

I really dislike Sexton and his ball hogging tendencies.

Interestingly, Kidd coached Jet Terry both in Brooklyn and Milwaukee (staff?). He had a young (soon to be FA) Tony Snell in Milwaukee. If anyone has a good read on soon to be FA's THT, Caruso, Drummond and Schroder, it would probably be Kidd.
If you are curious which players are Jordan Brand and Nike clients, the list includes: Zion, Tatum, Westbrook, Hachimura, Chris Paul, Kemba, Batum, Devonte Graham, Cody Zeller, Harrison Barnes, Conley, Drummond, and Dipo with Jordan Brand (along with Luka and THJ).
Nike has Giannis, Durant, Kyrie, Lebron, Booker, Morant, Randle and Paul George. The list of Nike players is super long. Some interesting names include Thaddeus Young, Gordon Hayward, Danny Green, Tristan Thompson, Ben Simmons, Rudy Gay, Reggie Jackson, Malik Monk, Eric Bledsoe (who played for Kidd in Milwaukee for part of one season), Fournier and Horford. BTW, Dirk and JJB were both Nike guys as was Shawn Marion.

Jason Terry is dead to me since he said his favorite teammate was LeBron James.

For me, the bare minimum for this coming summer is the Mavs to add a meaningful playmaker to the backcourt. Assuming JRich is gone, we could split the $32 million in cap space between THJ and someone like Reggie Jackson. Adding someone else like Collins would be more difficult in that case but if we can send Brunson+Powell somewhere else and Kleber to Atlanta that would work for matching salaries.
Luka / Burke
Jackson / THJ
DFS / Green
Collins / Bey
KP / WCS
