Don’t waste your time. They aren’t even thinking about the draft for one second these next few months.
The worst thing Mavs fans can do is stay up on draft night raft and wait for this front office to make a move. It’s not gonna happen.

I doubt there is any interest in this as the Mavs have no picks. I would also probably wouldn't waste buying a pick as I like our young kids and hope they stick around. Although, I would like to see a big guy on our summer league squad. Here are four guys who may be undrafted who interest me.
Jerrico Sims- I watched very little college basketball this year. I wanted to watch UT as they had two guys who were rated as first rounders. The guy who intrigued me was Sims. He is rated as the 100th best prospect by Vecenie form the Athletic. In some ways he reminds me of our camp invite from last year, Freddie Gillepse.

Neemias Queta- He is a John Hollinger sleeper. I don't know much about him but he looks to have some interesting skills. Vecenie has him rated at 62.

Ariel Hukporti- Don't know much about him. But he is 19 years old, 7 feet tall and German. He is rated 88 in Vecenie's rankings.

Luke Garza- While the other names on the list have the athletic traits that may make them NBA players in time, Garza certainly does not. But he was really good in college. I think he will struggle mightily in the pros. But I would be in favor to see if he has an extra 10-15% improvement in his athleticism. If he did, you could stick him in the G league and see if he develops.

Ok, those are four big man prospects who are late round guys/undrafted who are at least intriguing. You can also throw in Charles Bassey and Kofi Cockburn (real name)

Cockburn is pronounced Co-burn. Although before I actually knew that I had an embarrassing moment!

If there ever was a time to buy a pick it is this year but the Mavs probably don´t have enough roster spots to add even more guys that aren´t NBA ready.
Teams like OKC or NO simply don´t have the roster spots to use all of their picks and it will be difficult for them to trade out of some of the 2nd round picks.

Not sure if you were serious with that proposal. But I would definitely consider trading KP for Grant, Bey, and Joseph. It would save Detroit about $5 million.
With Joseph, he could be our backup PG which would allow us to entertain offers for Brunson.

Feels like half of the league has no pick this year.
OKC 3/3 (first/second)
Nets 1/3
Hornets 1/2
Pistons 1/3
Rockets 3/0
NO 1/4
Knicks 2/2
Magic 2/1
Raptors 1/2
9 teams combine for 35/60 picks. Trade carnage incoming.

Somewhat serious for the right price...
I'll even eat Lavine's contract...

There has to be some teams there that will be loose with their pick valuation. OKC cannot possibly keep 6 incoming rookies.

another big man who is really intriguing (at least his highlights) is Sandro Mamukelashvili from Seton Hall.
he doesn't play like a big man, but is really skilled passing and handling the ball for a big man. He is already 22, but could he eventually develop into a bigger version of Joe Ingles. He may be a bit of a tweener. I don't think he will have success if he needs to play inside and he may not be fast enough to guard wings. Although if he can find a niche, he could be an intriguing guy due to his skill level.

@"Kammrath" are we going to get more of your fine work on this year's draft? I realize that it won't be as much fun without any kind of Dallas involvement, but I thoroughly enjoyed that portion of this past off-season.

We'll see....if the Mavs hire a new GM and we hear that the Mavs are looking to get into the draft then for sure. But its hard to invest so much time and then have rookies not even play.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I felt very connected to guys like Haliburton and LaMello Ball because of that thread. I'd say it set me up to enjoy the NBA as a whole much more than normal. I appreciated it, though I can certainly understand why it wouldn't seem so interesting with that Mavs not having a pick.
