The Mavs have TWO back-to-backs remaining.
(And Portland also has two back-to-backs remaining now.)

Brooklyn lost their third game in a row, might be eager to win against Mavs. But if they let Portland win, it would only be fair to do the same to Mavs

Really hope the Lakers lose the next 4 against LAC, POR, PHX and NYK while the Mavs go 3-1 against BKN, CLE, CLE, MEM. This would secure ranking over LAL (5th or 6th depending on what POR does and the last 3 games go).

I think I am going to pull for the Lakers over Portland and they lose the rest.
Dallas vs Denver and LA vs LA in the playoffs is how I hope it ends up. That could be at either the 6/3 or 5/4 matchups. Portland goes into the play in madness.
Hard not to want a 4 game Laker losing streak though.

POR game is SEGABABA for LAL and LeBron is still out, i'd say this is the hardest game of the 4
I have a gut feeling that POR(who might go 4-0 against CLE, LAL, SAS, HOU before meeting might-not-care-anymore-UTA,PHX&DEN) will not be in 7th at the end, so i'd rather hope the MAVS make it clear soon they won't be either. I don't want it to come down to the last games ...

Does the play-in technically count as the postseason/playoffs? Say Luka got his 16th tech in game #72, and the Mavs had slipped back to the play-in. Would things reset then and Luka avoid suspension, or would he get held out of the 1st play-in game?

That is a good question, based on what I read the play in tournament is at the conclusion of the regular season schedule. I would assume they would use the playoff tech format at that time. Assume is probably where I went wrong...

Doubt he wants to go back to being an assistant but if he wants to return I would sure love it.

Well, it's interesting. Some coaches get fired and immediately have other head coaching offers. Some don't. My guess is that if he's in the latter group, working with Carlisle again would look pretty good to him. I suppose he could always opt to take 1-2 years completely off.

- Toronto’s Gary Trent Jr. sat out Sunday’s win over the Lakers with a bruised lower left leg, and with the Raptors having eight games left in their season, he represents an interesting case.
"Trent will meet the “starter criteria” for his qualifying offer with either one more start or 57 more minutes played, as our intrepid Raptors writer Blake Murphy recently noted. Doing so would raise his qualifying offer and cap hold from a paltry $2.2 million to a slightly more expensive $4.7 million.
While this has no material impact on the Raptors re-signing him — Trent’s market value far exceeds that qualifying offer amount — it does somewhat impact Toronto’s cap space scenarios for this offseason. The Raptors can generate roughly $23 million in space by waiving the non-guaranteed deals of Aron Baynes, Rodney Hood and several fringe rotation players but would have $2.5 million less if Trent returns to action for these final seven games.
Currently holding the league’s eighth-worst record but sitting 2.5 games out of the play-in and still having a game left against the 10th-place Wizards, the Raptors are in an interesting spot. No, the cap implications aren’t worth sitting Trent out, especially after Sunday’s win in L.A. But if they drop a few games this week and Trent isn’t back yet, it will become a more interesting conversation."

This could kick LA to play-in

In this case, change the coach. He's got a prickly attitude, the same attitude that got Carlisle fired in Detroit. The players say he's a jerk. Pacers have suffered some key injuries though like Warren who hasn't played this year. And now Turner and Brogdan. They still have enough to compete. Looks like anyone that worked under Nick Nurse is the flavor of the month.

Yeah, he has only 1 year left, so if no offer comes he could take a lucrative offer as super assistant like MDA.
That being said, I think the Mavs themselves aren't interested in such big name beside RC, for years they had chances to get former coaches and every time they opted for young assistant.
Maybe they will make an exception for an old friend
