Ya the only thing I could see is Suns don't want to extend bc they are worried ab his age or something and some other team offers him $100 mil. But if that was really the case you would think the Suns wouldn't have traded for him in the first place. The Suns are playing great, CP3 still gets to be the alpha there more or less and the team is in 2nd place in the West. Don't know why they would break that up.

The only other factor would be the playoff success the Suns have.

I get that they're both white shooters, and for all I know their percentages are similar, so I'm not saying it's a crazy comparison. But, I don't really view those two players as contemporaries. I really feel like most teams would want Redick next year if he doesn't retire.

Could have listed even more similar guys. Elite shooters with limited athleticism. Mike Miller, Steve Kerr, Jose Calderon, Dell Curry, James Jones all retired at a similar age. Always in the 36/37 range. At some point even the best shooting percentages aren´t enough to overcome the defensive short comings.

Oh, if the idea is that he's going to retire, then maybe. I'm just saying I don't expect he'll play for the minimum or the BAE. My instinct is that he'll be worth more than that for a lot of teams, however, and probably enough to get him excited about lacing them up for one more season. Unless he looks completely done down the stretch. I have a sneaky feeling he's going to look a lot better here by the time the playoffs come around than he did earlier this season in New Orleans, but it's just a feeling, admittedly.
I agree that his defense is officially a bummer, and an indication that he's on the way out. But, he'll still rotate correctly and pick up the right guy in transition. Until very recently I would've felt like that represents defensive improvement on this team.

I think in most cases it was a forced retirement because no one was willing to give the mentioned guys another contract. Don´t think that is the case with Redick. He probably has a few years left as an end of the bench shooting specialist but capspace is not really an option this year and there are better players available for the MLE. If he really wants to go north-east (76ers, Nets, Celtics) he cannot expect more than the BAE or the vet min.
On a more positive note. If everything works out perfectly (Redick plays 10-20 minutes and shoots 40% + from 3 on high volume) and the Mavs decide to operate over the cap I wouldn´t mind a one year overpay from the Mavs.
Back on topic: The mentioned sign/trade is very unlikely. His prefered destinations are near (76ers, Celtics) or over (Nets) the luxury tax line. It´s not like the Mavs can just send him wherever they want. Still his choice.

This is definitely a commentary on JRich than on JB. The only thing it really says about JB is that they don’t think he is best served as a starting 2 guard.
RC has put numerous undersized guards in great positions to succeed. Players like JJB and Yogi have left and found much less success in other systems. I think it says they want to keep playing JB in the role he has found immense success filling so he continues to have immense success.

Sign-and-trade is an alternate way to pursue them. The big issue is getting them to want to sign with Dallas (including an agreement on the money) and their old team not wanting to pay that much. That's knowable, without having to create risk in other areas to do so.

So Collins + Reddish for Porzingis it is.
This just is not working. Carlisle didn´t even want to play Porzingis in the 4th quarter, but he had to eventually, after we had erased the deficit.
We argued Markkanen or Collins, but what about both?
It seems when we play smaller ball without Porzingis the overall speed of the offense and defense is a lot harder to control for the opposition, even if the center is as offensively inept as Melli or Powell.

Let´s put it this way. I don´t think he´ll have to ask and he won´t be unhappy.
We are 9-9 without Porzingis, but Doncic missed three of those games. We are 9-6 (60% winning percentage), when Porzingis is out and Luka is playing. That´s with his replacements being WCS, Boban, JJ, Powell and Melli. Overall we are 28-22 (56% winning percentage).
I think the Mavs feel they are just not getting enough out of $30M a year and then there is the passive-aggressive vibes between Luka and Kristaps.

I don't think he has leverage to do that. Mavs gave him max contract, he missed roughly half of games and was bad half of those games he did play. Is this really a basis to complain that superstar all NBA player who is dragging this team is allegedly not passing him the ball?
I don't believe anything like that will happen. I also don't think Mavs will trade him, unless there will be an offer that is clearly making them better.

Right but any trade involving Collins is going to require multiple firsts in addition to at least one of Maxi/Brunson/DFS.
Remember we're throwing him the max as well. Is Collins worth that? I don't think so.

Since Feb 1st the Mavs are 16-7 in games KP has played in. Good for a .695 win % or a 57 win pace.
Overall since Feb 1st the Mavs have the 3rd best record in the league and are one of the top net ratings overall (and this is including the games where we've essentially gave up and didn't play either Luka or KP twice).
This HOU game was a bad effort from everyone, but it's especially bad and hard to win when 3 starters combine for 13 points on 3/20 shooting.
I think we gotta be realistic and chock it up to a bad game and move on (and remember how good this team has been), instead of hitting the big red button for no reason.

Well during that same stretch we are also 4-1 with Doncic/without Porzingis good for a .800 win % or a 66 win pace.
Let´s not forget of those 9-6 games with Doncic/without Porzingis this season, most were performed by out of shape Luka.
I think we´d benefit from playing a faster pace. The Mavs play like Porzingis is Dirk in the half-court, but he is not.

I guess we both agree that Luka is the main engine for the Mavs
