The most interesting thing about Indy potentially being willing to trade Sabonis is that he'd be the perfect offer to Atlanta for Collins.
Just spitballing:
Mavs get Collins
Indy gets Kleber/Bogi
Atlanta gets Sabonis/McDermott
I honestly think that could be great for all teams. Atlanta gets a young stud PF already under contract for a cheaper number than Collins will get, and they won't lose a step. Mavs get their 3rd star who they'll have no problem paying. And Indy gets a less expensive PF who will play really well next to Turner and a talented sharpshooting wing who fits the mold of players that tdo well there. Perhaps sprinkle in a few rookies and picks from Dallas to Indy, and that seems like a solid basis for a deal.

I don't see how with Capella already there.

Mavs getting any of Fournier, Dragic or Danny Green would be excellent
Assuming the outgoing pieces are Johnson, Terry and two 2nds
Interesting. If Toronto is moving Lowry (and Powell) they probably don't have a need for Dragic or Green. So they could definitely be in play. I would figure Dragic would have suitors if he was available if the Heat got Lowry. Both Green and Dragic could probably be had in this scenario pretty cheap. I would assume Philly would have to include Maxey and maybe Thybule who would be the main pieces for Toronto. Same thing for a deal with the Heat.
Both the Heat and the Raptors are smart though and they typically get good value in trades, so we will see.

I think Indy says no. No way they trade a All star big for Maxi and Bogi.

I believe you can waive WCS next season and Burke is a cheap fill in for another year. It would allow Orlando to get off Aminu who has another year on his contract. Or maybe because Burke has two years left, maybe it is Boban instead? Then Dallas would need to find another backup big. We’ve talked about this before but it’s a realistic way to make a Fournier trade to us more appealing
Mavs get Fournier and Aminu
Orlando gets Johnson, Burke, Iwundu, Terry and 2nds

Personally, I'd rather Sabonis; but that's me. He's clearly the most talented of the bunch.

All these late breaking names thrown out there seem totally made up to me. I want to hear from a trustworthy source before I go speculating ab one of these guys that hasn't even been mentioned at all til 2 days before the trade deadline.

Not sure why but John Collins seems like a huge risk for me.
If the Mavs are trying to get one of the young 4's my order of priority is like this.
1. Aaron Gordon (Already under contract, more versatile, slightly injury prone)
2. Laure Markkenan (Offensive gifted, not a max salary candidate)
3. John Collins (Max salary candidate, suspended for PED's)
I like Collins as a player but the suspension for the PED's does worry me.

Why are you so worried about something that happened over a year ago?

When he is busted again, he will be suspended 'til forever. Taking PEDs is a total no go to me.

Exactly, after taking a risk on KP I am not sure if max money for another risk is the direction I go.
I am willing to sacrifice in talent and upside and there are other options out there.
Desperate moves typically result in bad decisions.
I am not completely out on Collins but I do not think he needs to be the primary target by the Mavs.

Could you put protections in the contract that void his years/salary if he gets popped again?
I had the same "stay away" reaction to Collins when his name was first brought up on these boards. It also seems unthinkable that Atlanta wouldn't want him moving forward. That really makes me weary.

This is a smart perspective (and seems way more realistic than the ideas the rest of us are talking about!)

Mavs obviously like Collins. Atlanta's situation with him is weird but they are 5th in the East right now so why do anything? I bet they don't do anything until at least the summer. They also have to decide if Gallo, Bog, Cap too? make sense on their roster.

I do think Fournier, Dragic or Green are the most realistic options. The latter two might really depend on whether or not Lowry is on the move. I am still not sure he is but clearly if he goes to Miami or Philly that frees up one of the players we like.
Fournier doesn't depend on any other trade. I would be delighted if the Mavs got him for cheap.

Including JET. He's had some doozies just like the rest of us.
I'd be surprised if Miami sends out Dragic. I don't mind adding either of Fournier or Green in something Johnson based. I'd rather pay more for Fournier's playmaking and age, but Green could be useful too. Was hoping for more, but certainly better than just retaining Johnson.

As with all centers, I am asking myself. Assuming we keep KP, how would you play him? He will be certainly too expensive for WCS role. Can he play with KP? Can he guard perimeter (because KP can't)?

If there is any truth to the Pels using Lonzo to get off of Bledsoe, any interest?
JJ + JRich works from a salary perspective. There would probably need to be sweeteners.
