Anyone want to place a bet on how many may of the players they acquired will be on the Houston roster next year?

1. I´m only here for the J. Allen / T. Prince part.
2. Might as well be time for the Andre Drummond low-ball offer, cause he´s out now.

Okay hold on here, the fucking Cavs part can´t just be
Exum for Allen/Prince or I might seriously lose my sh*t.
Is the Bucks pick coming from the Cavs, otherwise I want to puke?
So it is the Bucks 2022 1st coming from the Cavs, but still. That will be a 25th and down pick. We could have beaten that offer.

I´m not sure why they didn´t simply take LeVert and Allen. They are easily the 2nd and 3rd best players in the deal behind Oladipo. That Houston owner really seems like a moron.

Nellie never forgave Cuban for not bringing Nash back. He started mailing in the job more and more, and was letting Avery run practices (sometimes not even showing up) in 2005, and the team wasn't doing well. At some point that season, the team got booed at home during a stinker, and over that weekend, Nellie literally just quit.
This is all I could find quickly: The first one has a little bit of PR spin mixed into it.

That was all on Cuban. Cuban cut Nelson off at the knees. Gave Nelson a Mark Cuban roster to coach, not a Don Nelson roster. The Mavs had Nash to run Nelson's offense but needed help ballhandling for when Nash was double-teamed. What did Mark do? Let Nash walk for nothing. If Mark wanted the team coached another way, he should've fired Nelson instead of what he did. Avery couldn't carry Nelson's jock as a coach, as was proven in that GS series. I'll repeat, that was all on Cuban.

Ok, great. I agree with some of that. Most of it, even.
It doesn't change the fact that Don Nelson quit on the team in the middle of the season...because, you know...that's LITERALLY what he did.

No. Mark forced him out. Mark was being a dick. Nelson was being a dick, too. Mark called the shots. Nelson's offense was built around Nash and Dirk. Nash was essential to what the Mavs were doing. Mark had other ideas about how a team should be coached, which is fine. He's the owner. My view is, if you want Nelson to coach, get out of his way. If you want a teamed coach another way, fire Nelson and move on. Don't force YOUR roster on Nelson and say, "here Nellie". Mark KNEW Nelson wasn't going to like it. Mark created that situation. If we look around the NBA today, we see a Nellie-like NBA, not an Avery-like NBA. Yeah, you have to play defense, but Nelson saw what was coming on the court. Spread the floor, point-forwards, threes, big guys shooting threes, less important dino-ball centers.

lol, ok dude.
Nelson quit his job. He wasn't fired. That's a fact.
The rest of this is just an argument about ancient history. I agree that Cuban made plenty of mistakes back then (and since), and I think Nellie did a lot for the organization. But, it's no secret that he was mailing it in that year, and again, it is a FACT that he quit.
Seems like this is a sensitive issue for you, and I have no desire to open old wounds. It definitely wasn't my intention to offend you or anyone else. My point was only that this was a crazy thing for the franchise and I think the conversation it sparked from you sort of proves that.

As much of a joke as Avery was as a coach in some ways, I believe the ways he tried to "change" Dirk as a player led to him becoming the more complete offensive dominator that made him capable of leading a team without any other stars to a championship.

Clippers went from quite possibly the worst franchise of all time (Minny coming for that title), to a near decade run of championship aspirations.
I think if anything should be changed, it should be do-nothing owners that don't really see an NBA team as anything more than an investment. There should be a performance clause that should light a fire under owners asses. Make a good team or lose it.
Every year the team doesn't make the playoffs, cut a percentage of the money from the teams that pay the tax. If a team doesn't make the playoffs for 4 years, they get ZERO money from tax

It's funny. I was actually thinking of ways of trying to implement a balanced rule. Unfortunately I couldn't come up with anything that also didn't go against my core ideals of private ownership/overreach.
What I did not think about was revenue cuts. Probably the fairest way to go about it if there was one. Instead of splitting it 30 ways evenly, the best 16 teams get a premium cut. The longer you're in the bottom half, the cut scales down proportionally every year. Would motivated cheapskate owners to actually be competitive.
Very very smart idea my man.
