Omari Spellman would be a great pickup. Still only 23, got waived bc Thibs wanted Taj Gibson on the squad. Spellman was part of Brunson‘s (second) championship team at Villanova. Bulky guy, good athlete and shooter. Would instantly become the best shooting big on the roster behind Maxi and KP. Shot the three well in his first two Nba years.
Kid deserves a spot in the Nba.

Who would you cut to sign him?

I’ve seen enough to think we should stand pat.
Johnson can do everything. Loud on the bench and in the locker room. Seems like a calming veteran presence on the court. Can dribble, pass and shoot well enough. Makes the right basketball plays to make guys around him better. Versatile offensively and defensively. He’s an ideal glue guy
Re-sign everyone. Make the big deals line up with the final year of KP’s contract. Therefore we would have 3 years with this group and the flexibility to blow it all up at that point if needed. The 2021 FRP would convey to NYK. 2022 FRP could be used as a draft day trade to upgrade in an area we could use some help. The 2023 FRP would then convey to NYK and we would be left with: 1) all our FRP’s to make a big splash 2) cap space to make a big splash 3) bird rights on all our current players

Feels like typical agent posturing to me, but still something to watch.

Nothing special to see there. We have a bench full of rotation players already. He is certainly not a starter on a contender.

THT just turned 20 years old and he always had lottery talent. Just like with Christian Wood, people would be unwise to base who he is just because teams (and draft sites) badly whiffed on him in the pre-draft process. Anchoring bias is a thing.

Rookie, or 2nd year?
What's his position? What's his game? He wasn't in the Lakers' playoff rotation last year, and I don't remember him playing on Christmas Day, so this interest in him (from anyone) must be a fairly new development.

Having a 17 MPG rotation spot for hands down the best team in the NBA isn't bad for a guy who just turned 20 a few weeks ago.

I've literally never heard of this guy. If he's actually good then I suppose he will get on my radar at some point otherwise this seems like a super-random "rumor" that's 100% from this guy's agent.

He's just a 2nd year player that had a monstrous preseason (like 30ppg kind of stuff). Since he plays on the Lakers, he's obviously getting a lot of coverage.
He's basically returned back to earth and is playing in limited minutes on good efficiency. He isn't a game changer, just the Lakers effect.

7"1' wingspan! High motor. Should be inexpensive. He's my next pet cat so there is zero chance the Mavs sign him.

Jerami Grant?
Detroit is going nowhere and would probably be interested in a rebuilding package. Grant looks like a legit 1st/2nd option right now.
Averaging 25/6/2. Shooting 47/38/87.
Even if he declines somewhat he would still be another two-way player that can at least somewhat create for himself.
What can the Mavs offer? THJ or Johnson would be enough to match his salary. Both are expiring and I would prefer to keep THJ.
Mavs could add Green, add Brunson, lift the restrictions on the Knicks pick and add a future 1st, add 2nds, maybe take back bad salary (Okafor, McGruder)
Johnson + Brunson + Green + 1st + 2nd --> Grant + Okafor/McGruder
Not sure if that is enough. Other teams could easily beat that package.

I am interested in some kind of Grant trade.

Problem is, Grant prefers to be a first banana on a bad team than 3rd banana on a good team. At least it seamed that way during the offseason

Ingram
Russell
Randle
Zubac
Ball
Nance
All these guys rate between All-Star and 10 year veteran. Even Wagner, Bonga, Mykhailuk look like they´ll have a decent run. No real bust amongst their picks.
