So basically, teams are having to draft these dudes based on what they did the year before last, right?
Might be a wild ass, crazy draft.

IF he were to be available at #9 with WAS picking OR #11 with SAS picking, do the Mavs have the ammo to move up from #18?
Here is a scouting video on him and his D:

Reminds me a little of a young Tayshaun Prince.
I like this video, Kamm. Where are you finding these, and how correct were they about Luka?

The dude has a channel on YouTube (Hardwood Herald), but wasn't doing this before this year. I just watch different scouting reports on YouTube and gravitate to the ones that feel like they know what they are doing.

It will probably be that ANYWAY because it is a deep draft that doesn't have a clear, elite group at the top. In five years looking back the best players in this draft will probably come from all over it.

Man, it seems like every draft ends up that way, even the normal ones.
Hopefully, this can be another Josh Howard/Marquis Daniels pull for our Mavs.

I really hope that the Mavs are willing to replace Reaves and Cleveland. Cuban has 5mio to buy picks. Go for a 1st. If that´s not possible go for two 2nds. First round pick obviously gets a full contract. Potential 2nd round picks get the two-way contracts.

Are teams still allowed to straight up sell picks for cash the way they used to? If so, some of these teams might think they the need the money more than they need a rookie this year.

Someone posted a report a while back that several teams in the 20s were looking to sell picks to avoid cluttering their cap. That seemed to be based on the idea that this was a weak draft, which, as I've said, I don't buy at all (except, of course, at the very top). If enough teams pick unwisely in the top 20, there should be some nice players left in the 20s. Would love for the Mavs to buy a pick there. P.S. - In that report, it was mentioned to Mark and he said, "We're buyers." Please please please said James Brown and Scott.

I think someone would limit my likes if I placed one on all of the recent posts. Great job KL and Scott. I have not invested the time to watch these potential draft picks, except for the very good player from Iowa State that I posted about moving up for.
Given the depth of the draft and the likely chance that drafting right where we are at can net us rotation players within a year or two, that is a great, cheap and efficient way to add talent. I am so glad we have the picks.
Buying picks if the opportunity presents, would be great.
Combining assets the MBT has decided to move on from with cash and maybe one of the picks to move up would also be great.
It will be all about talent evaluation combined with Luka/KP fit.
I am excited to see what happens and am actually hoping for quick championship results so we can get there and start next year sooner.
This Reunion Rowdie says the AAC needs "Luka's Lunatics" for the Luka/KP and gang era.

Ok, sign me up for this guy. Not only is he the perfect 3-4 combo for the modern game, but his mix video isn't backed by the usual off-brand wannabe hip hop track.

I just wanted to say that if I see one more mock draft with the Mavs drafting Nesmith or Terry, I might chuck the computer out the window. Evidently, pundits out there believe that the Mavs want to double down on not playing defense. No, dumbasses, we want Luka to win rings.

Villanova guy so there's a chance... I still think Mavs will be hard shopping #18 with Wright so that they don't have to pay either.

They don't want to pay a talented young player on a rookie contract... where's the banghead when I need it... Not directed at you, SBJ, but I am terrified you might be on to something.

I don't agree with the idea of refusing to pay a good rookie on a rookie deal for future cap reasons, but I could be fine with them finding a rotation ready dude for 18+Wright.
Just depends on the player, really.

Agreed. I was just responding to SBJ's suggestion of the motive of not wanting the rookie deal (big honkin' banghead) to clutter cap. It hurts! It would be absolutely Vlade level for them not to have learned from the Giannis debacle.

Cuban has made some pretty dismissive comments about the draft over the years that completely reflect the way we have treated it for the better part of his 20 year ownership. Dumping our picks purely for cap relief would be the bone headed move that would have me concerned about our ability to probably build around Luka. We literally just dumped Harrison Barnes in order to go out and do close to zero in free agency. It was nowhere near a NY Knicks move, but it was certainly a poorly conceived one. If we have to free up space, we can to that at the TDL.

Four interesting development projects, projected to be very late seconds or undrafted. Elite shooting on all four, decent size, defense is the question.

Huh.
The Mavs, for once, actually made the correct decision. They decided that they would not extend Barnes in the summer. So instead of running down the contract and lose him for nothing, they traded him for the 15th pick in the 2017 draft. That was good value. Unfortunately Jackson turned into a complete bust, but you do these trades a few times, you´ll nail one eventually.

I'm equally baffeld by the recent string of comments that lament sending HB on his way.
