AROUND the NBA:

Players rarely move Miami, but Giannis can be a FA this summer.    The Heat look like a team that is stuck in maybe good range, not great.    Good range is doing a lot  of assumptions too.   He left MIL because he wanted to win.   He does not have the same loyalty in MIA.

Yeah that Miami report talking about Kyrie, when in reality the probability of Giannis coming to Dallas in the summer is higher. At least we have actual assets to trade and a legit cap space threat by just waiving Aldama and Kyrie opting out. There is literally nothing on that Miami team for Dallas. Just matching 40M of their bad salaries would cost them multiple picks before we even get to Kyrie´s value.

This is a young players league now. The only way older stars can compete is by being on young talented teams like Philly or Houston and Kyrie on the Mavs to some extent, where they can pick their spots. Being in places like Miami or Golden State you are either overplayed and exhausted or injured by the time the play-offs come around. That´s if you even make it in.

They have Murray-Boyles, Jackson-Davis and Graves playing small ball center minutes. Honestly hard to tell who is the center between them. Poeltl is basically in a Warriors Bogut role. Everyone knows that the Raptors are at their best when they go small but they probably cannot do it for 48/82 without running out of steam. Poeltl is still doing some of the dirty work early in the game. Starts but doesn't close games.

Now Holmgren is missing 8-10 weeks?! Did we know about this, or is it new?

OKC is just snake bitten this year. I almost feel sorry for them.

Lakers truly stink. They have about 4-5 reliable NBA players on a poorly constructed roster. Luka will get so tired of carrying these scrubs. Another 12 months should suffice, if they don´t fall ass backwards into Jokic or Giannis next summer (without any workable capspace or young trade assets). He can become a UFA in 2028, when the Mavs have 100M in cap space as it stands.

That sucks.  It will be interesting to watch OKC.  they have a habit of throwing guys out there and being able to win.  It will be tested now.   In their game against Dallas, SGA looked exhausted.  Teams are going to throw the house at him.   It will be something to monitor.

Stephen Curry recorded his 94th career game with 8+ three-pointers against the Lakers, the most by any player since the 3-point line arrived in 1979.

They've won 2 straight, after a 0-4 start. They waxed Indiana 145-125 who was missing Haliburton, and the Pacers now say that Toppin is out tonight. So that’s Haliburton, Zubac, McConnell, Toppin, and Sheppard out from their expected rotation tonight. Giannis (2nd straight triple-double), Bam, and Klay had big games, and 6 players were in double figures. Might be too early to write them off just yet.

Keerthika Uthayakumar: Scottie Barnes with 41 points on just 2 made free throws, tied for the fewest in a 40-point game in Raptors franchise history. “That’s kind of BS to be honest with you” — Rajakovic on Barnes getting just 3 FT attempts. Though both teams were physical, it's not clear why Magic shot 29 FTs while the Raptors shot 15.

Mike Vorkunov: The NBA won the ratings battle this year. The Finals and World Series both went to 5 games. The average viewership number for each championship-clinching Game 5: NBA Finals: 24.5 million; World Series: 12.2 million

No groundbreaking news there. Despite some distractors, the NBA is more popular than MLB and the NHL.

Mark Cuban: Shorten the game to 40 minutes. The same as almost every other basketball league in the world. It would reduce injuries and ad inventory. But it would increase ratings to compensate.

If we are going to go into stat altering changes, I'd rather shorten the season and eliminate back-to-backs.

Didn’t see the game, but his stats look really bad - did Luka foul him out?
