Also, Marshall goes up a notch in my book for being the first one to stick up for Flagg after that hard Nesmith foul.

That was a pleasure to watch until Nesmith´s meltdown. Also May is a quick learner. Made a literal small tweak and it helped a lot. Saw a lot "smaller" line-ups in the first half. Risacher/Flagg playing SF up. In the 2nd half it obviously got a little problematic without Flagg and Kyrie´s foul trouble. I think Gafford is definitely the odd man out, considering that we still have two bigs in Aldama and Lively to return. Also we might have looked a lot worse in pre-season and game one, cause the Rockets and Hawks are legitimately good.

May's postgame was VERY interesting. Charming personality, with an attempt to engage and inform the media. Felt like he wanted to be there and to talk. Many insights shared. So different than Kidd (or Carlisle or Pop or so many, who want to hide all they can). Hard to know if it will last, but very enjoyable.

REZ with +21 in 16.5 minutes, with only two fouls?

I think it was a blueprint how Dusty wants the team to play on both ends and in transition. Really impressive how active, dynamic and gritty they were.

I had quit watching the pre and postgame talks because of arrogant reticence shown by coaches and others. I will have to check out how May performs. I "May" start watching again.

It is just one game but that first half and some of the second was awesome. I think you can start to see how May wants to play on offense and defense. And maybe the vision Masai wants in players.
I have been really impressed with Morez despite him not doing anything incredible. He just is really smart and can do a lot of things. Marshall made some huge buckets late that really stopped the Pacers runs. The one negative I had is there is a lot of dribbling when he is running the offense. The ball movement was great earlier in the game but it got very stagnant late. He was playing with Cooper and Kyrie for long stretches so it will be interesting to see how they try to fix that.

The fact he shot free throws afterwards and could raise his arm and looked to have full motion doesn't make me concerned its anything serious. Most mild AC joint injuries may cost 1-2 games if that. All in all we got lucky imo. Could've been a fracture or worse. Reckless foul by Nesmith

I love watching these young guys play. The hustle and desire is apparent. Rez dives across the baseline to save a ball from going out of bounds leading to a second chance 2. ZR unsuccessfully leaping into the stands to keep the ball alive. All this with the team up double digits. Mavs had 10 steals and 11 blocks. They were challenging everything. It was really fun to watch!! This was the first game that I could say that about since the Luka trade. There’s going to be growing pains and they’ll lose games they probably shouldn’t, but if this is the kind of effort and style of play we’ll see the rest of the season, it’s going to be enjoyable regardless of wins or losses.
Additionally PJ had a fantastic game especially in the second half with Cooper out. There were times he appeared to be playing the small ball 5 more so in the first half I think, and that lineup was effective.
Absolutely nothing I see surprises me.
This is Dusty’s MO all along and anyone who had done research on May should have known this. He wants high hustle, team oriented movement and passing and playing with fun and passion. His locker room comments about 80 more games and never concerning themselves with the scoreboard were straight out of his textbook. Seeing a glimpse of it materialize in game two is nice. This is going to be a rollercoaster. But when these kids get this into their nervous system permanently this team is going to exceed expectations. I’m getting my “I Told You So” neon banners out and ready, although I don’t expect to have to use them until after the all-star break.

Maybe we go undefeated the rest of the year but we are going to be short handed against SAN. If all we got to play on the court against San Antonio is Sasser Sergio Naji PJ Lowal Walter Gafford Cisse Rez it may not be too fun to watch.
Cooper Irving Santi Lively Howard Risacher Max Tarik Martin all got issues with bumps and bruises to deal with. Guards: Sasser Walter Sergio Forwards: Naji PJ Rez Lowal bigs: Gafford Cisse Maybe one or more of the injured heals in time to play against San If I was Risacher I would want to get in on this game. Ditto for Max Tarik and Santi if he is close to returning.
