Trade & Free Agency 2026/2027

I was pretty vocal about moving at least (any) two of those three over the summer for this exact reason, in part. And, not for air - I never once suggested they should be given away, I was hoping they'd be used at least semi-productively.

You were...pretty hard on me for those takes, I seem to remember. What has changed your mind?

good question.  I said that about Gafford.  I was hoping this team would at least be competitive.  As such, Gafford has/had a clear role as a starting center with Lively hurt.

I already have a sense of despair about this team.  They are going to be really really bad.  I do not want to see Gafford, PJ, and Naji taking up minutes on a terrible team.

I am probably overreacting to one game. I just have a hard time seeing any of those 3 raising their trade value. Their trade values might actually keep going down being exposed playing on this unbalanced roster with a lack of playmakers. This summer I was hoping and praying they could put up some empty stats and raise their trade value. Honestly more worried about being stuck with PJ Washington than Gafford or Naji. The "unbalanced roster" is basically having him on the roster. At least Gafford isnt blocking anyone, unless you view Cisse as a dude. PJ Washington is blocking Flagg from getting minutes at the 4.

I dont remember the exact Gafford trade(s) I was hard on you about. If you wanted to trade Gafford for Risacher or Mathurin, that's still gross. Those guys are worse than "air" or "nothing" IMO.

I am going to give 25ish games before making firm conclusions. They don’t appear ready to win a lot of games now. One of the things May was really good at in college was identifying talent, developing that talent and putting them in the best position for success. Maybe it doesn’t translate to the nba, but I think I look forward to see who are the players he puts the most effort into.

The china trip was probably good for team bonding, but it probably would have been best served staying I. The USA to really get quality court time. The bonding could pay off in time, but they didn’t appear to be very connected to each other in preseason and the first game.

Teams this young don't have playoff caliber won-loss records.

I won't be that critical of this team. They will still need to shake the roster a little in the near future, but that should be expected.

That's the line they're apparently sticking with. Even after Steve Kerr is on record saying it's not accurate.

There's clearly more to the story that nobody is willing to talk about.

Has Giannis signed an extension? Asking for his daddy Masai. Klay should start a podcast talking crap about washed Draymond. Miami is crap. Whole of Florida might be crap.

Milwaukee is crap. AD probably had that opening game marked as his Super Bowl, but not even the Wizards were dumb enough to fall for that one. 3-12, four turnovers.

Scoot Henderson, the odd man out in Portland?

“At some point the rubber has got to hit the road. I honestly wonder if it's going to be Scoot Henderson more so than Jrue Holiday,” said Jake Fischer on SiriusXM radio. “Joe Cronin identified Jrue coming back to Portland, and I think is pretty proud of that kind of, we sneak in stealthily while the Celtics were dismantling their 2024 title team and got this guy, Jrue.”

Oh that's something different then. I was going off of Sham's reporting, which is typically iron-clad. There are plenty conditions that can mimic POTS. None of them are great.

KP could have anemia or hyperthyroidism (but that's very rare in a young, male, professional athlete). More serious he could have an electrical abnormality like SVT or IST.

Regardless the sentiment remains the same. KP probably isn't going to continue his career (especially if its the latter 2), and the Warriors would have to pay up to get a good player for a bad contract.

What has not been previously revealed: The Stein Line has learned that the Nuggets showed a willingness to package two future second-rounders and a second-round pick swap along with Zeke Nnaji's very available contract in a bid to bring Kevin Porter Jr. to the Rocky Mountains. Yet I'm told that the Bucks ultimately walked away from the Porter-to-Denver discussions as well — and then waived Porter Jr. — because they could not stomach the idea of swallowing Nnaji's $7.5 million salary for the 2027-28 season. My sense after a number of discussions leaguewide is that, outside of recent precedent in completed deals, there is little for teams to lean on in terms of universal valuation across front offices on what the currency of the NBA's marketplace — such as draft picks and salary cap space — is worth. While some teams, according to various front office figures, do try to establish an internal measure of how much $X million on your books equates to in draft capital, that varies based on teams' valuations of the player attached to said money. And there's likewise little unanimity about what a second-round pick is worth compared to a first-round pick — meaning there's no universally established conversion rate, let's say, dictating that three seconds equals one first — like we employ when converting American dollars to Euros.

I didn't like Miami as a contender but I figured Spoelstra would at least get them to 48-50 wins.  They have not looked good.

Giannis can be a free agent after this season I think.  (player option for next year)   I hope he does not end up on the Lakers.
