Trade & Free Agency 2026/2027
(Yesterday, 12:48 PM)omahen Wrote: I am just glad the LeBron drama has ended. There still is the Clippers and Kawhi problem, that is probably holding up at least some teams. We might start seeing some serious movement now. Minny has a huge hole at big wing with Lakers not far behind. Cleveland is reportedly also interested in Kuminga, although they would imho be better off with Strus, which would likely need to go to get Kuminga. Mavs, Atlanta, Memphis and Lakers (anyone else?) have currently too many players on their rosters. Denver hasn't really done anything yet and it is hard to imagine their only move will be letting Watson go in a SnT.

And Detroit has the Jalen Duren saga. Yahoo sports has reported him and his agent aren't moving off an 5/287 million max deal which is preposterous. They aren't even close. Looks like he's headed toward a QO and he'll be a free agent again next year.

Yeah they were soooo stacked! So stacked that when Jordan went to play baseball they were just slightly above average in the league.

My point is that Jordan chanced excellence. LeBron chases adoration.

I'm not counting when he left to play baseball. You are. They were still stacked when he came back and won 3 more titles in spite of your sarcasm. We will agree on LeBron being an attention whore.

I respect Spo enough to believe that he knew that already.

The Miami Heat will shift their focus to DeMar DeRozan, Bradley Beal, and Klay Thompson after missing out on LeBron James, per @ShamsCharania “They had a very compelling pitch…. Now they’ll shift their focus to players like DeMar DeRozan, Bradley Beal, and could you find a player like Klay Thompson on the buyout market”

They finished 3rd in the East with 55 wins, two games off the #1 seed. Lost in seven games to the Knicks, who lost in seven games in the NBA finals. And Jordan retired so abruptly before the season there was no time to even get a decent replacement, otherwise they might have won the whole thing again without MJ. You sure have some weird perception of slightly above average.

In 1994/1995 they finished 5th (with Jordan joining late) losing to the top seed in the East, who went to the NBA finals.

What is your point exactly?

Just arguing for the sake of it?

Or are you saying what Jordan accomplished wasn’t all that?

That you chatting BS to big up Jordan, so I called it out. I think Bron is closer to Pippen than he is to Jordan, if that helps you get off the ledge.

No one needs to “big up” Jordan.

Ridiculous. LeBron has played with more talent around him in Miami, LA and Cleveland than Jordan had.

Luka, Wade and Kyrie were all better or comparable to Pippen. Outside of Pippen, the Bulls had Rodman and a merry ol’ band of misfits that never did anything much without him.

The Pippen was a top 50 player people have no evidence to back this up. Wade won a championship without LeBron and Luka got to one.

Kyrie and Pippen are similar in talent.

Dude, what's up with your snarkiness? It's just a conversation that some happen to disagree with you on.

Lol. Good grief. I brought up Jordan because he is the perfect foil to Queen James. Then others wanted to asterisk his 6-0 record. I’m as confused as you are.

Congrats to the 76ers. I've never been a big LeBron fan but he has won a championship everywhere he's been (even if the Lakers' bubble championship deserves an asterisk). He knows how to pick his teams. It may not happen in the first season there but by year 2, I'd be surprised if Philly doesn't end up with a championship  Sick

To say Toni Kukoc, Horace Grant or Ron Harper are just guys shows you were probably not even born at the time. Confused

You got all pissy about me setting the record straight, when I don´t even disagree that Jordan is the GOAT. I also did not belittle his accomplishments, although you sure seem to dismiss the quality of guys like Pippen, Kukoc, Grant, Harper, Paxson or Kerr.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Memphis Grizzlies are negotiating a buyout and the veteran 3-&-D specialist intends to team back up with LeBron James and sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, league sources tell me.

The first time I met Jordan I was 10 years old at my local high school. He came to play a pickup game there after his freshman season at UNC. I followed every step of his career and went to UNC 8 years later.

You probably don’t know more about his teammates than I do. He helped make those players more than they would have been. Most of them have said as much.

I think in the GOAT debate, both sides developed an unfair tendency to belittle the help of their favorite while upping the competition's help. For example, I remember us being scared to death by the Lakers with Gasol, Odom and later Bynum back in the day, while Kobe guys like SkapAttack on YouTube talk about how Kobe had no help because they never made any All-NBA teams or whatever. It is all just a matter of framing. I don't think it takes away from Michael to admit that Pippen was his perfect number two and one of the best ever, and also recognizing the excellence of his role players. In Bron's case, the super team stuff hurts him more, but it is also true that he beat the Warriors and wasted his years in Cleveland with zero help.

Let's just be fair and realistic. Both are rightfully in the GOAT debate, but for me, peak beats longevity every time - so it's Jordan by a landslide. Longevity just breaks down at some point. Sure, one could play until he was 70, and it would be impressive that he would smack around 50-year-olds, but at some point it's just not "great" anymore, so what's the point? But I can see the other side of the argument - it's an "intuition" thing which one you rank higher, and there's no right or wrong answer. There's just right and wrong arguments.

LeBron didn't create a dinasty, he chose to join the best team almost every year.

That's the most important part.

So moving back to trade ideas, Philly obviously is going to be in desperate need of win now players. Especially guys that are the 4 or 5.

The two main guys I'm looking at is their recent draft pick Philon and a real ultimate prize in Edgecombe. Lebron has a habit of forcing his new teams to spend all their young assets to win no matter what. The 76ers are log jammed right now, especially at the 2 with Simons, VJ, and Brown.

Does Gafford for Philon+LACs 2028 FRP make sense?
