AROUND the NBA:
As long as Timmy didn't spend any time dribbling the ball, he could play. As soon as he fancied himself a two-way player, the team stumbled.

I think my favorite part of his game was how aggressively he went after rebounds.  His three point shooting was often offset by his shot selection.  Though a lot of that is probably colored at paying him at 18M instead of the 6.5M (or whatever the number is) that he'll be making now.  It will be interesting to see how many wide open looks he gets this year compared to last year.

Huge hoops news. Marcus Sears Jr., the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2027, is reclassifying and committing to Texas for the upcoming college basketball season, he told ESPN on Thursday.

Mavs winning the lottery confirmed. Where do we have to finish under the new rules to get at least one ping-pong ball? Big Grin Big Grin

I think the Kings will win the lottery. Then Vivek will accidentally trade Marcus Sears to the Mavs for Marcus Sasser. Masai is a genius.

I have thought about that top-2 protection a lot lately, with the lottery rules in such a crazy place.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if they get one of the top 2 picks and it doesn't convey? Does it kick down the road to a different first? Covert to 2nds? What's the deal?

Turns into 2028 Miami 2nd.

Dallas' 2027 1st round pick to Charlotte protected for selections 1-2; if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Dallas will instead convey Miami's 2028 2nd round pick to Charlotte, which is now owned by the Pistons.

So, nothing to worry about for the Mavs there.

Man, that would be so delicious. 2 lottery wins in 3 years, all because of "lottery reform?"

Despite a temporary reprieve, the ping pong ball gods hate Dallas.

I think we all expect them to be in that 30ish win area this season. They will have a real shot at landing in the top 2. I can see us rooting for that outcome roughly 20 games into the season once again. Sigh

We won 26 last year without PG play for an organization that wasn't trying to win.  I'm expecting us to be a .500 team this year barring disaster (like trading Naji).

Too late, already there. I might as well just enjoy the hope from my new front porch rocking chair on insane street.

That's actually real life footage of me on the day they separated from Jason Kidd.

Maybe Flagg can get an injury in year three and we can get that Serbian kid in 2028. Then we basically have an 18 year old Luka and Flagg together without the fatness and beer drinking and broken hamstring and calf muscles and 80% usage rate.

We WILL be fighting for the playoffs this year but you still get 1 ball if you lose the play in games. But we can’t get a #1 two years in a row so it would have to be a #2 next year so we can still get the #1 in 2028 after Flagg goes down.

I think I'd give you a run for your money for the amount of joy that produced within me.  There isn't a word strong enough to describe my disdain for Kidd.
