At that point I am throwing the sink at GSW for #11 and taking both Burries and Wagler.

“There is growing anticipation” that the Mavericks are more likely to KEEP pick #9 rather than trading down, after their hiring of Dusty May, per @TheSteinLine & Jake Fischer

That would probably be Kyrie. I would do it.

As long as that's not to grab a Michigan player at 9 (I don't think it is) I am very happy with this message.

But does that really mean anything?
I don't think the Nets want to just take Ament with a reach at 6.
Or, was that his way of trying to steer himself away from Brooklyn/Sac and toward Dallas or Atlanta?

"There is growing anticipation".... by who? And why would Dusty May effect the #9 pick in that way? I can see people presuming a Michigan pick when May was hired, but why the other way around?

Doesn't rule out a trade up!

Could also be some draft day posturing. But yes. I love the trade up idea. Unless it’s for Wagler
Just kidding. A trade up would definitely signal that whoever it is was their GUY. Not just the one that dropped to 9.

@GeryWoelfel
The Bucks have shown keen interest in point guards Darius Acuff Jr. of Arkansas and Mikel Brown Jr. of Louisville.
But neither player is likely to fall to the Bucks, who have the 10th pick in tonight’s draft.
I’m told the Bucks were pushing for Brown to work out in Milwaukee in the last week, but were repelled.

Switching picks with Bucks could yield some profit if we still get our guy.
Just thinking out loud.

If Masai pulls that off we need to give him a permanent spot at Nick and Sams

Despite the Mavericks hiring Dusty May as their new head coach yesterday, ESPN reports that there is "there is skepticism within the league about the extent of May's influence on this pick."
They predict that Dallas will draft Nate Ament with the No. 9 overall pick.
"Dallas' hiring of coach Dusty May away from Michigan was an intriguing Monday headline, with all three Michigan prospects -- Aday Mara, Morez Johnson Jr. and Yaxel Lendeborg -- potentially on the board for the Mavericks at this slot. However, there is skepticism within the league about the extent of May's influence on this pick, with team president Masai Ujiri set to make his first selection in charge."

ESPN Jeremy Woo‘s latest mock:
#9 Ament
#30 Quaintance
Quaintance would really excite me.

I would not select one of the Michigan guys at #9. Just seems like a reach in every case. But a few spots later it is a different issue.
Still rooting hard for a trade up. Ideally from #9 but that’s probably going to be expensive.

Hard to see how that makes sense for a team desperate for guard play and creation. I will be stunned if Q makes it to 30.

I think you have to take Q if he falls that far, but it's hard to see him being a factor in anyone's rotation this year.
He may be a real prize later though.

If it’s the BPA on their board each time I would not rule it out. I don’t think it’s outlandish to expect them to be fans of Ament.
But this post was more about Quaintance sliding due to his knee injury. That dude - if kept healthy - is a building block in the making Imo.
That is a big if though.

He is definitely worth the risk at 30. Don't need to rehash my Ament hate.
