What kind of conversations are the Spurs are having internally about DeAaron Fox? He's owed like $220 million over the next 4 years. One of the worst contracts in the league?
Still can't believe Sacramento chose him over Haliburton.

It's nice that the would-be dynasty has a very heavy albatross around their necks.

If cooper average 27/6/6 with 50% shooting hell most likely better than wemby.

Kurt Badenhausen: Each Knicks player will earn ~$770K from the NBA for their title. Big bump for lower salary guys, such as Sochan ($806K salary), Diawara ($1.3M) & Alvarado ($1.7M).

This team Leon Rose built is the NBA's first to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy and NBA Cup double in the same season. It just beat the Spurs four times in five tries despite spotting a double-digit lead to San Antonio in the first quarter of all five games. And it joins only Toronto in 2018-19, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, as NBA champions with four starters acquired via trade. These Knicks and those Raptors are also the league's only two teams, per Elias, to open a Finals-clinching game with five players it didn't draft.

The Knick who impressed me the most in the Finals, vs my expectations, was not Brunson. It was Mike Brown. I had thought he was mostly a meh coach who got lots of chances because of his history as a SA assistant, and then would get fired when each place figured it out.
But he made some really inspired adjustments in the playoffs, both of them to unlock the offense. Against ATL iirc, he went to KAT as the offensive hub which let Brunson play off the ball. Against PHI too. To some degree KAT was the focal point, doing the passing, more than Brunson.
In the Finals, in games 1-2, Brunson was not that good on offense. Somehow they won anyhow, but he was being overwhelmed and worn down by the SA defense pounding on him all the way up the court, and his offense was very subpar. So Brown took him off being the guy pushing the ball all the time, mainly with Alvarado, and it let Brunson have the energy to score in buckets again later in the series. I think that was a somewhat minor tweak that was very very sharp, and made a big difference.

I was not a fan of the Knicks earlier in year. Thought they were too Brunson dependent.
I thought Brown has always been a good coach but was not the guy to make a good team great. Whether I was wrong or just wrong this year doesn’t matter.
Brown will have nba champion behind his name forever now nd we be one a few coaches who has led a team to a title. He did it with a team from the biggest city and can live off
That for the rest of his life.

So, because of a few good decisions, he vaulted from an average-to-below-average journeyman head coach to a bright, shiny expert superstar coach.
We fans are incredibly fickle. Incredibly influenced by recency bias. Incredibly drawn to assigning a single source to wins and losses.
I laughed out loud when I saw Kendrick Perkins' take that the Spurs needed to basically rebuild. After narrowly missing an NBA championship? Really??
If not for a couple of mental lockups, inexperience and youth, we could easily be proclaiming the Spurs as the current and future dynasty of the NBA right now.
Calm down, guys!!

Knicks championship gear has become the top seller across all sports within the first 24 hours of a title in Fanatics history, the company said, breaking a record previously held by the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles just after beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. The Knicks are also on pace to become the top championship team for total sales in Fanatics history, surpassing the sales record set when the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series in 2016.

I tend to agree. Mike Brown has coached some pretty good teams before, and he still got fired. Lakers, Cavs (he was COY and won 66 games in 2009 and led them to the Finals before being swept by the Spurs). He did a good job of turning a moribund Kings team around, made the playoffs for the first time in 17 years, and won his 2nd COY award. This year's Knicks team had some luck involved in their romp to the title. Atlanta was the only team to beat them twice, but they got on their roll right after that series and swept an injured Embiid led Philly team and Cleveland. I guess what I'm trying to say is they had an easier path to the Finals than the young Spurs, who knocked off the champs and really should have beaten the Knicks if it wasn't for bad game management, key turnovers, and Mitch Johnson's decision-making regarding playing De'Aaron Fox (who was brutal) more minutes than Harper. Johnson was totally outcoached by Brown. However, I give them credit for being connected, and they went on and had a historic playoff.

"I know there's a lot of interesting in whether they might do something with De'Aaron Fox, but they are committed to him right now as their franchise point guard," said Brian Windhorst on Monday's Sports Center. "And I think they will remain that way."

You have to put on a good face since it would be incredibly expensive to get off his contract while returning anything of use. Harper's immergence also helps in that regard.

Mike Vorkunov: Mike Brown is on his 5th HC job in the NBA. He's had a pretty good run. In 2007, Cavaliers best season ever at the time (66 wins and the finals). In 2023, Kings have their best season in 18 years (48 wins + playoffs). In 2026, Knicks have their best season in 53 years (first NBA title since 1973).

Comedian Kevin Hart and ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith are among those who think celebrity Knicks superfan Spike Lee should get a championship ring after the franchise won its first title in 53 years. Hart shouted out Lee in an Instagram video posted on Sunday. “Give Spike a ring,” Hart said of Lee, who has likely paid many millions for tickets over the last 40 years. “Spike deserves a f–kin championship ring, and I’m saying it here. Give Spike a New York Knicks championship ring.”
