Bucks beat the stumbling Magic last night. There two new players: Dieng score 17 and Cam Thomas score 34. Not bad for first impressions.
Grizz lose Nuggets. Omax maybe has his best back to back games. He went 6-7 from the floor. He missed a game in between but the last game he played he it like 6 threes.

He's obviously been working on his shooting and getting the opportunity to play that he didn't have here. Maybe he's turning the corner as he's in the Memphis rotation.

I don't think KD is wrong. I really don't care about the all star game. I really liked it as a kid, but due to the style of play I hardly watch now. I was embarrassed how Luka played in these game though. Although the main thing is to not get hurt, but he moved like he was 80 years old out there.
[Wright] KD: "If you look at Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic now, let's go back and look at what they do in the All-Star Game. Is that competition? So, we haven't questioned what they've been doing. But we're going to question the old heads, and the Americans... Luka and Jokic, they don't care about..

So does anything happen here? There has been a lot of reporting on this by Pablo. It is going to be hard for the league to turn a blind eye. All of this with probably the most powerful, richest owner as well.
[Pablo Torre] Clippers’ former GM Michael Winger asked “How many fucking side deals do we made with Kawhi.” Paper trail showing Clippers had been doing business with Kawhi’s uncle from at least 2017 (when Kawhi was sitting out with the Spurs), with alleged illegal payments spanning years

Ainge doesn't mess around. Making Jaren Jackson get surgery so he doesn't play and help them win games.

"Pistons star Cade Cunningham has purchased a minority stake in the Texas Rangers, he tells Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link). The former No. 1 overall pick, who will make his second consecutive All-Star appearance this weekend, is a native of Arlington, Texas, where the MLB is based."

Sochan lack of shooting is a huge issue, but I like the no cost gamble here. Knicks need someone who may be out of the main rotation but maybe fill in as needed. Sochan might be a good bet on a reclamation project. If not, it doesn't cost you anything. I think the Knicks made a great low cost gamble of Alvarado at the trade deadline. He has been one of my favorites. Time will tell how much he helps.

@ShamsCharania
The NBA has fined the Utah Jazz $500,000 and the Indiana Pacers $100,000 related to the management of their rosters for recent games. On Feb. 7 and 9, the Jazz removed Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. before the beginning of the fourth quarter and did not return them to the game. The Pacers were fined for violating the player participation policy for holding out Pascal Siakam and two other starters Feb. 3. @TheSteinLine Says NBA commissioner Adam Silver in explaining the punishments: “Overt behavior like this that prioritizes draft position over winning undermines the foundation of NBA competition and we will respond accordingly to any further actions that compromise the integrity of our games.”

Here's how I would deal with tanking.
1) Prevent teams from picking in the top 4 in consecutive seasons. 2) Break teams up into groups 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-14. They play each other at the end of the year to determine the draft order within that group. 3) Seeding for the above tankoffs are based on a team's combined two year record. This limits the amount a team can fall in the lottery (so teams like the Jazz just get a good pick and start trying to win). It also limits the amount a team can rise (no franchise player for teams that barely miss the playoffs). It discourages teams from shutting down players because they'll have to bring them back to secure their draft position. It also prevents teams like Indiana who already have a superstar from engaging in one year tanks instead of staying competitive the way Boston has. Basically you want to create a healthy rotation of actual bad teams at the top of the lottery. Make them commit to a rebuild. Reward them with a high pick. Make them move on and try to contend.

And after the 3rd infraction, the team is ineligible for the draft lottery and is moved to the 14th draft slot. If there is more than one team ineligible, then there is a coin flip of sorts for who drafts 13,14 or for whatever number of teams there may be.
