Sochan released.
It just sucks that the Spurs were doing a bad job on their rebuild. Ok, maybe not bad. They got some picks for Murray, but they missed on some lottery picks. Sochan being one.
Only to be rescued by getting a generational prospect at #1, doing a real nice job identifying Castle and then getting the second pick in another really good draft. God must be a Spurs fan.

The Spurs drafting the last few years is reminiscent of the late 90's to 2001 when they drafted their "Big Three" Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili. They could be setting up another dynasty run.

A GM only has to be "right" on a couple of home runs. He can strike out a lot, and still be considered great.

Very true, especially in basketball.
However, I'd say there's another level above the one you're describing, wherein the guy gets things mostly right, with a few strike outs. Still, to your point, if the "mostly right" doesn't include the HOME RUNS (which require opportunity, not just hard work), the guy who only gets a few right will look better, provided those few are the RIGHT few.
I've also noticed that GM's can go on heaters for up to a decade and then have several years where they seem clueless, so adapting to changes throughout their careers seems to be kind of a big deal, too.

Probably premature on my part, I think they'll start that dynasty run this year and will be hard to stop, health willing. OKC is going to be tough on them of course and has the ammunition to improve, but if you give me both rosters, the first two players I'm picking are Wemby and Castle...and I don't think Castle has even figured it all out yet.

I'm worried about Wemby's long term health. Dude is so tall, the history of guys as tall of him having long, healthy careers is non existent.

It's a concern for sure, but he's 22 and the team is stacked. They could have a very nice 5-year run. I'll be shocked if they don't get at least one chip.

Imagine if they hit on Harper, too (and I personally think they have).

If Castle isn't near his ceiling, Harper is barely off the floor. If they are both hits, that bodes well for Wemby's long term health as you don't need to put as much mileage on him.

It only took me 4 tries on tankathon to get the Hawks pick (Spurs have swap rights) into the top 3.
Based on SAS lottery luck, I half expect that to happen. And the thought of one of the top 3-4 dudes in their lap is even more terrifying. They could just add another elite young piece to their core, or shop the pick or Harper plus salary (Fox, Keldon, Vassell) and be a player for just about anybody. They control a first in every draft with most of them being swap rights.

Sochan gets let go from SAN
Another interesting fact it appears that Egor Demin is a free agent this offseason how is that possible and whoever butchered the rookie deal with Brunson must be moonlighting as a consultant with the Nets? We could probably steal him away with a fat check

Whoever said Demin is a FA this summer is not someone you should listen to. He's a RFA in 2029.

In his favor, he plays a lot from outside, so he misses some of the grinding that goes on in the paint, which should help preserve his health. TBH, I think he's the type that will play most games each season, but will always have a stretch where he needs recovery time from an injury.

Wemby will be another KP. He can't play too much minutes.
But he is so good and 25/30 minutes per game should be enough.

I think Wemby might become the fully realized "unicorn" KP was heralded to be when he came into the league but I agree the injuries are a real concern.

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/...6/team/bkn right there this year it says he is a free agent though he is restricted so I am curious about that, he is a rookie so not sure how this happened it could be an error but Sportrac is usually pretty accurate.

That's a weird goof. It is definitely an error. His rookie contract doesn't end until 2029.
Here's Demin's contract page at spotrac and as you can see, it shows him as RFA in 2029-30. Every place you see his name on their pages, you can click on his name and it takes you to his contract. How he happens to have been placed on a spotrac list of 2026 FA's, who knows, but not true. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/...egor-demin
Here's spotrac's BKN page for next season, and as you can see, Demin is listed as already being under contract. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/brooklyn-net.../year/2026
We don't need to ask spotrac. He was just drafted in 2025 and was an early 1st-rounder (pick 8), which means he is under contract with BKN for basically 4 years with a RFA year after that. Rookie 1st rounders ALL get standardized contracts where their drafting team gets at least 4-5 years of contractual control. There's no such thing for a 1st rounder as a 1-year contract.
