#1 for #2, #14 and we even give you the swap back (Nico you can draft a nice PG at #2 and we give you an extra pick)
Pelinka is probably on Nico´s couch and talking him into #1 + PJ + Klay + Lively for Lebron.
They are 100% trading Flagg for Giannis imho. Nico needs to win now and Kidd will push for this so hard. Milwaukee will be happy. It basically comes down to ownership. Nobody else stops that deal and I would bet Nico throws in Lively as well.
How are we going to match that Giannis contract? It'd be the KD package all over again, in addition to Flagg. How does that make any sense?
Just take Flagg and get a point guard. NO reason to go for Giannis.
This lone piece of "luck" has restored future faith. Flagg is good enough for the Mavs to win now and in the future.

Duke’s Cooper Flagg’s official measurements from the NBA Draft Combine:
6’7 ¾ barefoot, 221 lbs, with a 7’0” wingspan and 8’10 ½" standing reach
Flagg grew nearly an inch in the past year, while adding 12 pounds.
So by NBA standards, he’s 6’9 (in shoes). With long enough arms and great skill. He’s the perfect 4. And he can stretch the floor. AD is just going to have to play center. The Mavs should look into a DLive trade. They could get a lot back. Keep Gaff, who doesn’t have as much trade value. The Mavs can do almost anything with an asset like Flagg coming in on a rookie contract.

He's good enough that he played against our Olympic team last year in scrimmages at 17 years old and looked like he belonged.

I'd actually agree with Nico. I don't think swapping Giannis for AD makes you a contender as you'd need to move other pieces to send capital back to the Bucks. You'd be trying to shortcut a path to being a contending team much like we did with Porzingis (though Giannis is in another stratosphere). Giannis is going to go into win now mode and with the likes of OKC and other up-and-comers being so strong, I can't imagine he'd be happy with being on a team who's playoff hopes is somewhat equivalent to what he is on now, just in a much tougher conference. Being bad for a while and developing Flagg while building organically seems like the best long term strategy. I imagine Giannis will end up on OKC or Houston.

He doesn’t turn 19 until December.
I should have known we had him, but i didn’t see he shared the same birthday as me until i checked a few minutes ago!!!

Wow! How crazy was that. Cooper Flagg to Dallas, with a whole lot of shot-creation responsibility that should give him a huge platform to hit the ground running.

Klay + PJ + Lively + Martin + Flagg already gets you to Giannis.
It´s not that hard to match.
You care about this franchise you better all get on Dumont´s case to not trade Flagg, cause Nico/Kidd/Cuban 100% want that Giannis deal.
And I would not be completely shocked, if Giannis is next in line for a major injury. He´s hitting wrong side of 30, lot sof mileage, physical style, missed 15-20 games for last six years regularly with various sorts of knee problems, but never had the big one.

I believe every scenario is equally possible. they could trade the pick for giannis or KD, they could take flagg, they could take someone other than flagg. actually the thing that would surprise me the most would be them just doing the normal thing and picking flagg.

Even if Nico wanted to make another dumb trade, this time Patrick Dumont would be smart enough to stop him from trading the #1 pick. It's uncertain what the future of USA Basketball will look like once LeBron and Steph retire soon. Flagg will have every chance to be the face of basketball in the country moving forward. From a business perspective, Dumont is not going to throw that away after seeing the financial impact of losing Luka

I want to believe the words you are saying, but we've really been through the ringer since January.

Agreed. The backlash from the Kleber trade was too severe for Dumont to allow it again. And I'm sure the entire fanbase will repeatedly make sure he's aware before draft night.

Of course you can. I´m just preparing you for reality. You are still living in Nico´s wonderland and there are no proper checks and balances in play.
Kidd is friends with Giannis. Cuban hates rookies. Nico needs to win now to justify the Luka trade. Milwaukee knows it is over for them with the Lillard injury. Only ownership can stop this trade, or you pray that Silver put a no-trade clause into the deal.
I think Flagg is that special. At least you now can get Giannis, cause I think that moron would even trade Flagg for Durant or Lebron. Don´t doubt for a second that Pelinka will be offering Lebron, too. Pelinka can basically trade for the Mavs finals team and add Flagg at the cost of a 40 something year old traffic cone.

I mean we are rightfully traumatized. With Nico at the helm, literally anything can happen.
Somehow, someway, the Mavs actually have a chance to restore hope. I don't think the NBA would let them throw it away like that.

This
The Luka trade still gets me super angry at the most random moments of my life lol. It was truly that awful and undeserving to Luka and everybody emotionally involved on so many levels. But at least there is some
hope now again. After all that crap Ill happily take it. We got dumped on enough over the last months.
________
Let me write it down just once:
- they fire Nico and hire a real GM
- Dirk takes over in a much more public role and works his butt off behind the scenes to repair the relationship with Luka
- they bring him back and we get Luka + Flagg for another decade or so
- we end the Celtics dynasty
Could you imagine. A true fairytale ending.
Man I miss Luka. He was so so special. It wont be the same but Ill stick around and root for the team and Flagg. At least there is a reason to follow the team again.
