OKC is not our problem right now, we have to look at Sacramento, Memphis and Suns next years.

We need to fight to make PO.

Just dreaming but is Cooper Flagg a 3 or a 4 or a combo?

I like him as a 3.  He can play D almost on all levels.  On offense he would overpower anyone.

https://fanspo.com/nba/teams/mavericks/7/draft-picks looks like we may be without some picks in future years because the mavs bought into being real and then they became very unreal.

The more I think about it the more I personally can no longer trust certain individuals on the team to make smart decisions because they have shot themselves in the foot and they have none to blame but themselves.

Kidd played for us but he also coached in LA and Nico was friends with their GM so there are too many close connections to that team for me to trust either of them from hear on out.

Trading Luka to LA smells funny. Of course the owner is also suspect in his dealings and it may be there is some dirt on someone being leveraged. We need to consult the oracle on this matter. Anyone got a number for Neo?

Jase is easily the best player in the range the Mavs are drafting, at least statistically. He’s above average at pretty much everything except rebounding. I expect he’ll rise up though and won’t be available, but if he is, he should be the guy. Flagg’s statistical profile on Tankathon is obscene. Every facet is a strength and he has no weakness. It would be a miracle, but winning the lottery is probably the only thing that can get the Mavs back into contention. Overall, the draft doesn’t look quite as generational as some have made it out to be, outside of Flagg, but it does seem relatively deep.

I think we should just sign CP3 as our temporary starting PG and focus on BPA in the draft.
If Kyrie isn't back by TDL, then make a move for an additional PG.

This team is starving for a young star for our future, so we need to pick the player who has the best chance to become one no matter what position.
I recall the draft when we needed a PG and passed on the current starting PF for the Bucks to draft the son of a former major league baseball star shortstop who happened to be a PG.

CP3 is done. A waste of a roster spot.

CP3-Klay-KD-AD-Howard was an all star game lineup in 2015

Next important thing would be that the Heat somehow win their two play-in games and move ahead of us. We‘d then end up - if we don’t win our two play-in games of course - with the tied 11th worst record with the Bulls, that means the same lottery odds, but maybe picking in front of them if we win the toss.

And we did win the toss against the Bulls and are ranked at 11, with a slightly higher chance for the top pick than the Bulls at 12.

Would be typical for our season if the Bulls win the lottery and get Cooper Flagg, though…

Looks like the Mavs have a 1.8% chance of a positive future. It’s the best odds they’ll get in the next 6 years.

If we draft Flagg he will never play 1 minutes in Mavs uniform. Book it.

Our future (and so the present) is done with Harrison&Dumont, mostly right now because they are desperated with the entire world laughing at them.

If the Mavs get that #1 pick, I will bet any amount the other way. There is NO WAY the Mavs (or any other team) would trade Cooper Flagg.

He's the player you build around. Even idiot Nico wouldn't trade him (and if Nico was still here and tried to trade Flagg as he's being drafted, he would get fired in an instant for such idiocy, guaranteed).

If you trade Luka Doncic at 25yo 6months after the Finals than you can trade anyone.

Flagg has no where value (basketball and marketing) compared to Doncic right now, trade Luka for Flagg would be a bad trade. Not bad as AD+Christie+FRP obviously.

Nobody said they were your problem. I merely stated that OKC is getting more 1st round picks, to add to the till. The Mavs have changed the trajectory of their franchise forever if you ask me. It's hard to come back from that.

I am looking at this as an outsider, and I am walking on an eggshell for this topic (and bear in mind that I never stepped a foot in the US) but isn't the first "white American first overall pick" since Kent Benson (1977 draft) is worthy a lot of hype from media & marketing perspective? Potentially first one that actually gets "super star" status since the 80's (or 90's depending on how you rate Stockton) too.

I mean, it feels that with Flagg his marketing goes beyond his basketball abilities (which are amazing btw) assuming he lives up to the hype.

Also, it isn't like Nico and the Adelsons are getting praise from the Luka trade. They know they fucked up and trading Flagg is a double down on this.

Anyway, we aren't getting the first overall pick so it doesn't matter.

I think CHI and DAL still have the same lottery odds since they are tied record-wise. It just means DAL gets to pick first if neither moves during the lottery.

But DAL could go higher if they hit the lottery. Or could go lower if any CHI, SAC or ATL get picked. So now, 3 weeks of waiting.

Personally, I hope the MBT gets upgraded in the meantime.

I thought so as well - but according to Tankathon and another article I read we also get rewarded for winning the toss with slightly higher odds: 1.8 to 1.7% for the number one pick and 8.5 to 8.0% for a top 4 pick.

Re the coin flip - yes the 2 teams DAL and CHI still split the combined number of ping-pong balls for spots 11 and 12. But there are 20 and 15 balls respectively, totaling an odd number of them (35), so the winner of the coin flip (DAL) gets the extra ball. DAL now has 18, CHI 17.
