Not a surprise shorthanded Mavs look bad on a back to back.

Also not a surprise Mavs really need to upgrade their guards. Especially with Kyrie out to start the year. I don’t think they can upgrade both to be a contender. One is a big challenge. They need to get it right.

well first half was fun. They need to cancel their plans to make the playoffs they need a high draft pick and we lack the pieces to contend even when the bigs come back because KIdd is not the coach for a team that uses bigs a lot more. He is a small ball coach and we are not structured to play small ball and win without Irving and Luka. We need a PG that is world class to get our bigs involved. Irving alone will not do the trick. He may never be the Irving we remember guys he was hurt very bad. There are some good PG's in the draft you will not get one in trade. Look how long LA and NY had to wait for one. LA just conned our new brain trust and caused everyone in DFW to think we are not in kansas anymore. You do not trade a Luka and want to win as your main goal with this team as a business. I think there is something else nefarious behind that trade besides Nico and Dumont being stupid and green with dealing in trades. Cuban said it in a way he did not gain any major hate but you trade luka you get 4 first rounders in that trade or you are just a @#%$ at doing your job

I saw a bit of the game in the first half, but not much. I listened to the Mavs DLLS podcast this morning and they discussed the Rick Welts interview. Welts joined the Mavs broadcast in the first half. The two points they discussed were Welts call to action that the Mavs want to be in a new arena by the 31 season (Just when we get our picks back . The podcast stressed that Mavs fans new stadium talk is very low on their priority right now. They also discussed Welts saying he hears what the fans are saying now. They went on to discuss what this means moving forward and the message if everyone in Mavs leadership is back next year. What happens if they get off to a 12-20 start next year?

First half was great...especially with Naji Marshall tiptoeing with quick mincing steps through the trees in the paint to score almost every time.

Come out in the third and Naji was glued to the corners waiting for somebody to throw the ball to him. You could see he was frustrated, holding out his hands and actually jumping up and down, pleading for the ball. It was only nearing the 4th quarter that Naji was slowly moving back to initiating the offense...and scoring.

I can only conclude that Naji was TOLD to plant in the corners and wait for the ball. Maybe because that somebody wanted to get the rest of the team involved. But it didn't work. By the time "the rest of the team" gravitated back to Naji it was too late.

Come out in the third and Naji was glued to the corners waiting for somebody to throw the ball to him.  You could see he was frustrated, holding out his hands and actually jumping up and down, pleading for the ball.  It was only nearing the 4th quarter that Naji was slowly moving back to initiating the offense...and scoring.

I can only conclude that Naji was TOLD to plant in the corners and wait for the ball.  Maybe because that somebody wanted to get the rest of the team involved.  But it didn't work.  By the time "the rest of the team" gravitated back to Naji it was too late.

Naji Marshall is becoming a force...

He is playing great.  His touch in the paint is remarkable.  Totally unexpected.    

I still want to wait until we have a full roster.  When we are healthy, his role will not be a primary scoring threat.  How does his game adapt.   It is great he has made a few threes lately, but I am interesting what those lanes look like when we have a big or two in the game.   Right now, I think you can sort of put his numbers in the Quinten Grimes comparison.  Both guys are not primary scorers but due to their situation they have been asked to be one.   Credit to both as they both have been efficient.

I also want to see how his defense looks when his offensive load goes down.   As good as his offense has been, I don't think his defense has been great.  Maybe that will change when he plays with shot blockers.

What I mean about mincing is taking quick, short strides. Loooong strides under power leads to injuries for most people. I can attest to this because I was injured several times in track because of taking long strides. The long strides were strongly encouraged by the coach for everyone on the team--disregarding the fact that I was the shortest person, by 4", on the team. It wasn't until I shortened my strides and increased rotation that I achieved "success"--with no injuries.

Naji Minces...short quick strides. I haven't look up his injury history, but I hope it doesn't include injuries from the knees up to the diaphragm.
