Not anymore. ChatGPT is now browsing the internet. I am using the free version and "my" version knows that Luka was traded to Lakers

That's so weird. Just tried to ask my free version and it said "Luka Doncic is a superstar player for the Mavericks."
And it vehemently denies that the Mavs would ever entertain trading him.
I guess we're on different models or something.
Still hilarious AI is in the same disbelief as all of us.

That was a complete robbery. How’d they convince Nico to put in the much better player plus add a decent draft pick? That’s a fireable offense and shows a complete lack of understanding player value- pure incompetence.

Pelinka& Harrison are almost best buddies, 20years of business and a great trust each others.
They both won.
We lost.

Nico is a terrible negotiator. Abysmal. It's just that simple.
From various accounts, when he decides on a trade/player he likes, he will do "whatever it takes" to make it happen. When Nico comes chasing, the other GM merely has to hesitate - even once the trade is one sided in his favor - and he can be assured he can extract more assets. Nico is clueless about the importance of the assets on the margins of trades, because he thinks "I got the trade done" is all that matters. Dolt.
Morey saw Nico GIVING a pick in the Luka deal. He knew he merely needed to bide his time, and he could get one too. "We need our 2nd rounder back, if we're to do a deal" and then wait.

As bad as the Grimes trade is, I could sort of accept it as a maneuver to help with the salary structure. Even then, it turns out Grimes is actually really good and it was a dumb trade. But teams trade better role players away all the time to maneuver around the salary cap and aprons. I get it. But to just throw in a good pick is asinine. I can’t get over the sheer stupidity. Nico must be the biggest dolt anyone has ever met. Was he successful at Nike because of some schmoozing ability? He was kind of effective here when he had Lindsey keeping him in check. Maybe he just needs a lot more oversight — like he can make something happen if given a mission but if he’s the one determining what should happen, you’re screwed. The insanity of his recent moves are just impossible to comprehend.

At Nike, all he had to to was find a high profile player he wanted to sign to a shoe deal and throw money at them. Cuban wanted to capitalize on Nico's relationships with players to draw FA's to Dallas. Seems he's looking at Nike guys - AD, KD - and using his old M.O. of throwing enough capital at the deal to get it done. Nike didn't have a salary cap...

Nico Harrison...
College: Military Academy and Montana State
Career: Successful schmoozing players and teams, internal management
Analysis: Low profile college career. Internal management is of little importance (that's for the CEO. Little to no deal making.
Rob Pelinka...
Member of the Fab Five, the most iconic college team ever.
Career: High powered agent including names like Kobe and KD, of which 80% of is deal making.
Analysis: Highest of the highest profiles. Ultimate deal maker, focused on always getting the best end of the deal
This was like the Dream Team v the Washington Generals. Rob was bouncing the ball off his head and throwing buckets of confetti in his face

Just for fun, since there is not much to talk about. Lets say Giannis asks out and he wants to go to a contender. Which team can create a package big enough for Milwaukee (young player with star potential, picks,...) and become an instant contender? I see the following:
- OKC, if they don't at least make the finals. They have a number of ways to do it. One of Chet or Williams and whatever else is needed. I don't think anyone can offer anywhere near better package. That team would be super scary, potential dinasty
- San Antonio for Vassel, Black and picks. Wemby, Gainnis and Fox would be instant contender assuming Wemby can stay healthy
- Houston could make a good offer, but I don't see the fit (not enough shooting already), same for Orlando
Big market teams don't really have assets for a player of such caliber. Miami could be the closest, but Hero is good but not great. Unless they win #1 pick, of course.

OKC has the best package for sure. San Antonio is a close 2nd.
But a wild card I think could be Orlando. They have ALL of their current picks. Plus a FRP from Denver and a slew of 2nds. They could send either Banchero or Wagner as the core. Plus 5 FRP.

Are there grumblings about Giannis wanting out? Would be interesting to see where the next shoe (Dame) would drop.

There have been rumors he's put the Bucks on the clock, as he's in win now mode. It depends how deep they go in the playoffs In the East, and their bench isn't deep as Cleveland's or Boston's. Therefore, I don't see them getting by either team. We'll see..

Hopefully the Lakers can somehow get into the Giannis-business if he’s ever on the move. I’d still love to see him
play alongside Luka. Two of the best european players of all time next to each other would be a dream come true.

I like the idea, but I’d rather see Luka and Joker in Denver.

Any team with a really good player over 30 with a first round pick is going to be interested
You can never rule out a destination city like Miami. There offer seems light. I also wouldn't rule out a good run franchise in a desirable market, so add the Clippers too (yeah the Clippers are well run). There offer would appear to be light as well though.
I am pretty confident I know one team that would go really hard and that is Toronto.

What evidence would you use to demonstrate that the Clippers are well-run?

It’s both very fascinating - combining Luka with Joker is the ultimate strength on strength combination. Best two offensive players in the league passing and scoring.
But Giannis is the perfect opposite to Luka. Just imagine a combination of their best capabilities in one player - that would by far be the best player the world has ever seen, wouldn’t it?

Let's say the Mavs move up in the Lottery and can get either Cooper Flagg or Ace Bailey:.
Mavs get Haliburton and Pacers 2025 #1
Pacers get PJ, Klay and Austin Reeves
Lakers get Gafford (Luka's lob threat)
Haliburton/B. Williams
Kyrie (late), Christie
Flagg, Naji
AD, Martin
Lively, (FA)
Or would you rather just keep Reeves?
Thoughts?

I’m not really interested in helping the Lakers continue to scalp pieces off of our lone finals team.
Even if it meant the Mavs got Halliburton.

Pacers are not trading their star for a couple of lesser players. Even without them adding the FRP. If Flagg would be going to Indy, than perhaps.
Reaves is far more valuable than Gafford.
