Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist
Is there still hope, for example that Luka won‘t pass his physical?

I was so looking forward for the next two to three years competing with this version of the Mavs, then rebuilding to content with the Spurs and Thunder again with Luka in his early thirties.

Now I‘m not even sure I‘m able to follow the Mavs anymore after 27 years of real dedication since Dirk was drafted.

Can't believe they actually came out with something so blatant like this. Usually they try to at least make things look sort of realistic. Lakers, LeGM getting his final wish before retirement, Vegas, whatever it is, it's crooked. Oh well. Mavs had a good run with Dirk & Luka, it's probably going to be back to the pre-dirk bottom feeder years pretty soon.

The Lakers would do this deal, if they found out Luka has a prosthetic leg. I really don´t understand how they don´t get every single Lakers pick out of this.

It´s blatantly corrupt and/or the Lakers front office is STONE COLD. You imagine getting a call asking for a Luka/AD swap as the base of the deal and they didn´t immediately offered them Reaves, Knecht, 2031 and every other pick they have left. How do we (slipped up once) they not even get Reaves for the alleged WIN NOW, when these fuckers run out Dinwiddie for 35 MPG and Kyrie´s legs are already dead.

Man, few weeks/months ago I said I really don't trust the current front office that much and that this was just a purple patch and we need to see more. That the love for the new ownership is more of a relief of past one. And man, I wish I was wrong.

In my worst nightmares, I didn't believe such a move could even happen. And for god sake, why the lakers.

So the Lakers traded Ingram for Luka and a championship ring. Not bad.Hilariously if they had traded Luka for Ingram and Zion it would be a better deal, and New Orleans would have done it. Don´t even dare to suggest otherwise.

Me too. I would have thought hard about Franz Wagner, simply because he has the same hunger and want-to that made Dirk great and will improve year by year by year. But that’s probably the end of the list.

I said Wagner/Suggs + two picks. You could easily have sold the fat angle with that return. They will never recover from this. If local fans have courage, the next few Mavs games will be in an empty arena to embarrass the league.

Also Dirk better not show his face in the arena to buy these clowns good will. That would be disappointing. They even betrayed his loyalty. Should have left a decade ago.

What is the best way to stage a walk-out/boycott? We don’t play at home again for almost another week. Cowards.

I wish Dirk would end all associations with the team, he cant be ok with all this.

The folks at Nike/Jordan sure like Luka in LA way more than in Dallas...

As a fellow German, who rooted for this franchise since Dirk came there and stayed with them when Luka took over, I really struggele now to find a reason to keep rooting for this organization.

Maxi gone too doesn't make this challenge any easier.

Nobody asked me of this but... I'm a Dirk fan and stayed as a Mavs fan even after Dirk left. Luka renewed my fandom of the Mavs, not because I am a fan of Luka, but because I see how the team is set up for many winning seasons with a talent like Luka at the helm. Honestly, I am not mad that Luka is traded. I am upset about what the Mavs got in return. This is a losers move.

I have a feeling Luka's going to be back next year, and do his insane MVP run and a title at year 2 with the Lakers then call it quits after his Laker contract is done. But the Lakers would run away with at least 2 championships and Luka with at least one MVP by the time Luka gets his early retirement.

And the Mavs? They'd be in mediocrity hell for the next 5 years.

Same for me… I hope my love for the Mavs awakens soon again, so that this doesn’t mark the end of a 27 year long wonderful love story.

I‘m feeling really depressed the whole morning whilst sitting in the sun on a glacier in the alps, that trade hit hard in the early morning over here on an otherwise wonderful winter day.

At least Maxi, Dorian and Luka can play together again.

After getting flooded with texts from friends and laughing in disbelief, if there is justice in the world the trade should be vetoed by the league for GM/Ownership malpractice.  That will not happen of course.  And all the blunders of the post championship Mavs by Donnie, Mark, and whoever else was given the wheel on draft night pale in comparison to this.  I'm not even the biggest Luka fan.  When you have so much God given talent, it's hard to for a lot of athletes to develop the drive and hunger it takes to get yourself in world class shape and squeeze every drop out of that God given ability.  I hated his crying and his "approach" to defense.  God knows it is hard to build a championship roster in the modern NBA when you have to constantly try to hide a player on defense.  But by all accounts the dude wanted to be here (something the Dallas Mavericks should never take for granted) and he's absolutely stunned to have been traded.  And I can almost understand trading him, but given how most trades have gone down for starts, let alone superstars, the return we received is unforgiveable.  Unless there is something really wrong with him medically, there is no reasonable explanation for taking nickels on the dollar of his value especially considering the hole we've dug in future assets to assemble a team around him.  How they didn't extract more players, picks, and swaps is just mindboggling.

Even if we win the championship this year, I don’t think it’d be worth it.

I think this is closest to tears I’ve ever been over sports. This trade hurts worse than the title felt amazing.

What an absolutely sickening time to be a mavs fan…
