ESPN Sources with @TimBontemps: The Sacramento Kings are agreed on a sign-and-trade that will land DeMar DeRozan on a three-year deal, send Harrison Barnes to the San Antonio Spurs and Chris Duarte, two second-round picks and cash to the Chicago Bulls.

Spurs get a 2032 pick swap from the Kings. Probably not a bad idea to bet on the Kings being the Kings.
Still though, I am not crazy about the Spurs offseason. They have a game changer already and have a ton of pick equity, so things may turn out well. Paul and Barnes will be adults in the room but are short term rentals. I was expecting some more guys who fit the Wemby timeline better entering the offseason.

Will score like Indy. Will give up points to an extent Mike D'Antoni's Phoenix teams would envy.

I think the Spurs subtly have had a fantastic offseason. CP3 is the perfect set-up guy for Wemby and teacher for Castle. Barnes is a steady vet and good locker room presence to teach the young ones how to behave.
They got prospects and future assets, while getting a little bit better.
Screw the Spurs man.

I don't even see the fit here.
DeRozan shrinks the floor for Sabonis and Fox. He's an average defender, probably at the same level of Barnes.
At 25 mil AAV, is he even better than Barnes who is at a flat 18 mil?

The Kings wanted to keep up with the Western Conference’s offensive arms race and bring on DeMar DeRozan to join De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis

Odd fit. Derozan is still really good though. Kings typically don't get these type of players. I think some of the other guys may be better fits but would have costed more. The pick swap may hurt, but nothing else they gave up is anything valuable.
So odd fit, but if I was a Kings fan I would be happy with their offseason so far.

One plus, Derozan is a big shot maker. Barnes....is not. That has to mean something to me.

You gotta crawl before you walk. Spurs low key had a decent off season. They got Castle, and two vets, to help them develop around Wemby. Baby steps..

But did the Kings get better?
From a raw talent standpoint maybe. But the goal is to fix the team's issues. I don't see what DeRozan brings that fixes the Kings' problems. Sabonis disappears. Fox has no true running mate. Their bench is thin outside of Monk.
Who knows? Maybe DeRozan is good enough still.

Need to capitalize on Wemby while he’s still healthy. Dude is taller and skinnier than Porzingis who has barely been able to stay on the court during his career. There’s no history of players that tall having long, healthy careers.

I am with you on this one. Don't see the fit and I also question if the move even made them better.

DeRozan isn’t really a fit in Sacramento, imo, but his game is such a throwback it’s kind of hard to find a good fit for him anywhere. Great, great player, but i don’t love his fit with Sabonis or especially Fox.

We've talked a lot about the potential defensive problems with Luka/Kyrie/Klay, but this is even worse, and on top of that only one of these guys can actually shoot. I can't see this trio working out, but I guess Sacramento had to try something
