I remember the Suns from 2021, a 25 years old young star, young promising players in Bridges and Ayton and HOF PG, an owner that fans hated. Decent coach and GM too.
Only for the new owner has destroyed all that with new strategy and they are more of a laughing stock now.
Sometimes the old bad owner has enough experience to keep something that works (Cuban himself did that) while a new owner is eager to leave his mark and oroof his genius.
I am not saying that this is what will happen, but I am not ready to celebrate yet. So you think after 13 years of ignoring the draft, always signing washed up veterans and chasing soon to be washed-up stars that don´t want to play here, it was Cuban behind the strategic tank, the smart draft day actions, the signing of young veterans and acquiring of legit PF/Cs. That be a hell of a coincidence.
Maybe the sample size is too small to say Nico/Kidd have figured it all out, but I´ll give them a pass for all the dumb early sh*t like McGee and assume with Lindsay in board, Nico in full command and no Cuban in the food chain such idiotic decisions won´t happen again.
We find a way to turn THJ + picks into Sexton, re-sign DJJ and maybe Powell for Jalen Smith as the stretch big, we are comfortably done with the summer. The benefits of not doing dumb sh*t all the time, is that small steps can have a big impact.
Doncic/Hardy/Exum
Irving/Sexton/Hardy
DJJ/Green/Lawson
Washington/Smith/OMax
Lively/Gafford/Kleber
That might be the deepest team in the league.

Maybe it's me, but I don't see the infatuation with Sexton when you already have Hardy. They're the same type of player.

I had to jump on a plane early this morning. For work and I didn’t sleep well last night. Just feels odd how fast the season ended. I knew this was coming but I had a sliver of hope a miracle would happen. That dream ended pretty early last night with how the Celtics came out (and how the Mavs came out). Now we need to try to climb that mountain again. That is a hard challenge. Let’s get to work

While I want to find out Derrick White or Jrie Holiday. I was thinking last night, it would be nice to find out Al Horford. Older guy who was once really good who may have been in the wrong spot but can still be good in the right situation. Also may help off the court too.
Who are some candidates?

Interesting
The new guy is a doofus that just happened to marry into a rich family. Miriam Adelson is too controversial so they made him the owner. Hopefully he doesnt fancy himself to be a basketball person like Ishiba.

Well wouldn´t that make him a genius? He´s an average looking doofus that managed to marry into one of the richest families in America.

If he’s smart enough to stay out of the front office’s way, he’ll be less of a doofus than Cuban in my book. Here’s hoping!

I'm not making a prediction he'll be a worse owner. Just not celebrating yet.
All the major leagues are littered with bad owners. Look at the Houston Astros. After a decade of unbridled success, the owner Jim Crane decided he wanted to be GM all of a sudden.

He seemed to be in good spirits, but this change just feels odd.
He made a ton of money and maybe he needed that. Just word how it went down and how it looks like his role will be very limited moving forward
"... his role will be very limited moving forward " -- Limited role? He has no role going forward. He's a minority partner. This is not his show in any way. Go away and let the experts handle things.
I suspect that was ALWAYS the way it was going to be, because the way he packaged it (as if he was selling, but he was still the one in charge making the decisions) made no sense. Who pays billions for a company, then lets someone else (who is not very good) use it as their toy? Felt like a classic Cuban lie, self-serving to praise himself, and still does. I think the real deal was that, for continuity purposes, the season would continue to operate as is, and then Cuban would be booted out of any management once it was over.
And why would they want Cuban in charge in perpetuity ("forevermore" as he put it)? Cuban thinks he's an expert at GM-ing, but he just wasn't. His colossal mistakes in overruling his experts held the organization back and were a real issue in trying to win. Clueless and dismissive about the draft. Nash. The stupid teardown of a title team. Giannis. Brunson. And lots of medium sized blunders in-between. Another GM would have been fired long ago.

At this point, I'd switch Horford for Kleber. Horford is a better shooter and making 3's, and he's really no worse defensively and still can rebound. Might not be a better rim protector at 38. But I mean why not? He'll probably retire though.

So BOS is making that swap? If Horford is better for DAL, why isn't he better for BOS? Not seeing it.

Not much chance they can get all of that done. Sexton will be very expensive (Ainge), you have not made any space for DJJ, and why would Indy send a rotational player for our bench warmer?

It was a hypothetical answer to Chicago's post. I'd doubt Boston would do it. Horford plays a nice role for them.

Cause Jalen Smith has a player option and Dwight Powell is awesome. Are you saying Indiana would rather let Smith walk for nothing than acquire renown advanced stats guru, locker room chief and spiritual leader Dwight Powell.
I just want to find out who is responsible for Dwight Powell: Carlisle or Cuban.

Cuban (the GM) was responsible for keeping him here.
Carlisle (the Coach) was responsible for making him look a hell of a lot better than he has looked since Carlisle left.
That's how I see it, anyway.

The achilles didn't help either.

It would be nice if Achilles would come around and do for Powell what he did for Hector. #sorrytoodark
