GAME 1 Playoffs 2024: Dallas Mavericks (0-0) vs. Boston Celtics (0-0)
I know one thing. We have to take care of the ball better the rest of the series.

Maybe Kidd should have spent more time watching the Celtics/Pacers series as RC actually kept them close in most of those games even without Haliburton!

They need them though.  Or Exum or Hardaway.  They are good players.  Moment felt too big for them.  We need them though.

ISO offense is not going to be good enough.  Luka working way too hard for his points and no one else is doing anything.

This. He’s obviously bothered by playing Boston. If this continues we have no chance

They didn't have any trouble scoring against Boston, even without Halliburton.

LUKA needs to teach Lively how to guard KP.

Yeah but they have better offensive fringe players and a better system. I think Green just made the decision to trade him much easier. You can´t pay 14M to a guard that cannot create anything for himself and won´t shoot. Time to re-visit THJ/Green/Powell + two 1sts for Simons.

I also don’t like our small ball lineup for big stretches. Lane is wide open.

Tough decision though. We need a big Lively series and be able to slot bleed the non Lively minutes. Tonight was not good

Pacers play 5 out.  Much easier to get shots playing that type of offense

PJ and DJJ are going to struggle this series because they're facing better defenders, and Boston is going to make them make shots.

Ok we found something with PJ as the outlet going downhill. Better spacing with Green than DJJ.

RC pick and roll magic against a mediocre pick and roll defense. Relentless pick and roll/drive kick. Something the Mavs aren't build to do. Not enough ballhandlers. Not enough spacing. Also a much higher pace.
If they can find a way to attack the bigs in the pick and roll the offense would look much better. Right now they aren't getting anything easy. No lobs/dunks. Not enough kick outs for open corner 3s.

Benches basically decided the game.

59 to 45 minutes for Dallas, 26 to 6 points for Boston. Hauser scored as much as our whole bench.

Well at least it got kinda close in the 3rd. Time for the team to do some soul searching and Kidd needs to come up with something that works. Kyrie needs to show up and hopefully we can steal game 2. I just wish we had more positives going into game 2. Luckily it's just one game. Got to move on and figure out how to win game 2.

It must be nice to be Tatum. He can just sit back while the rest of his team takes over scoring. Celtics with 6 players with double digit scoring.
