The anonymous assistant coach? The article doesn’t claim he’s a Mavs coach. OKC? Clips? Pacers? Magic?
Pessimism doesn’t make you smart, just pessimistic.

Luka shut down that nonsense the best way possible. The original article itself even wasn't that bad. It was full of praise while pointing out some things that could be better. I didn't really have a problem with it. This sloppy aggregations are bad. It was never stated it was a Mavericks coach which these hacks put in the title and then focus on a small part of original piece making a big story where there isn't any.

The Phoenix Suns plan to hire Bucks champion Mike Budenholzer as their head coach on deal expected to approach eight figures per year, league sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The Holbrook, Ariz., native will be tasked with optimizing Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal.

Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania)
Lead assistant coach David Fizdale is expected to transition to a new front office role for the Suns, sources said.

The Suns are considering restructuring their front office, which could include hiring a President of Basketball Operations to oversee GM James Jones, per @Gambo987 (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/th...0655112339).

Jones was originally promoted to President of Basketball Operations by former Suns owner Robert Sarver in 2022.

I thought the new owner said that almost every GM in the league would prefer their current roster.

Wasn't GM James Jones responsible for all that?  So why would they strip him of power?

Especially since it appears that Ishbia is blaming Vogel for all their failures.

Perfect. I tried to say something like this in the other thread, but you said it better and more succinctly.
Not very astute ^^^^

The Suns planned to offer David Fizdale a front office role, but he’s not expected to accept, per @ShamsCharania (https://theathletic.com/5484475/2024/05/...ead-coach/).

Fizdale arrived in Phoenix alongside Frank Vogel as his lead assistant.

Oh hold up a second. The Suns aren't getting their guy!

This doesn't make sense. Wasn't James jones adhering to Ishbia's wishes trading for KD and Beal?  Ishbia had to approve and sign off on those trades.

One of the caveats being a GM/President of Basketball Operations is that you're the fall guy for the owner even if you were against the moves and just following orders.

Seems like a setup for failure for whomever is the next coach.

If the owner is convinced that the roster is "perfect", then the only reason for failure is the coach.

I like Legler. He's well informed and knows what he's talking about.
