With or without Kyrie, Luka's natural position should be PF. He has the size and length to play the 4 in today's game. He doesn't need to be the PG bringing the ball up and down the court every possession and dribbling for 20 seconds. The offense can still run through him easily, just like it does for players like Tatum, LeBron, KD, who also have been playing primarily PF the past few years.
But of course, it would take a good coaching staff/front office/ownership to give him the proper support instead of just enabling and catering to him. I think Cuban intentionally wants this style of basketball so that Luka will get his stats and impress. They are so worried about keeping Luka happy that they are scared to do anything to rock the boat. That is where they are wrong about Luka. I don't think he is a diva who wants to do everything his way or the highway. If the Mavs had a competent organization like Denver with a plan on how to build a roster and develop talent, Luka would probably be fine with whatever they asked him to do.

IMO, you have Kidd watch EVERY minute of Joker/Murray on the floor at the same time before you look at adding any other pieces to the scheme. Yes. Luka-Kyrie is as talented as any duo in the league. Just have to put it all together. Kyrie-only minutes last year gave us glimpses of this nuggets style of offense. It’s Luka and/or Kidd that need to adapt. Unselfish motion offense is the way to go. Constant attacks/screens/cuts etc. offensive rebounding………BUT…………..the half court style of Luka is still necessary and nice to have in the playoffs and late in games when things slow down. It just shouldn’t be the “go-to” offense all the time like it was last year
Now we just need MPJ/Gordon/KCP/Brown/Braun/Green
Green/Hardy/Maxi/Player X/Player Y/Player Z

Maasai definitely likes to go against the grain on the majority of his decisions. You can’t argue with the results of many of them even if they appear off the consensus when happening.

Nuggets look like a dynasty team.
What is the best way to beat them?
IMO, size and speed at all positions. Spread pick and roll. 5 out offense. Attack Jokic with bigger players and try to get him in foul trouble

History says taking out Murray radically changes how they operate. I think getting 2 point of attack defenders that can limit Murray+MPJ offensively is enough to stifle them.

I‘d say Luka is our best chance - let him attack Jokic every single time like he did Gobert and Zubac. It would help tremendously if we have a defensively capable center that can shoot (= a bigger Maxi), then Luka is able to destroy his good friend Jokic. That’s our unfair advantage compared to the rest of the league against the Nuggets.

League is a joke. At this point Scott Foster should be the 2023 FMVP.

At the very minimum, the Nuggets will win at least one more in the next 5-7 years before their window closes in the Jokic Era. I don't even think Jokic has reached his prime yet. MPJ can still improve too

Congrats to Jokic. A truly unique player whose unselfish play reminds me so much of Dirk.

Don´t think enough people realize how good he has been over the last three seasons. Basically broke all existing records when it comes to boxscore based metrics like PER, BPM and WS. Obviously lead the league in all categories in every single season since 20/21. And his playoff numbers are just as good. First in all time playoff PER. Second behind Jordan in other boxscore based metrics like BPM or WS/48.
And one could argue that this isn´t the most impressive part. His +/- based metrics are just as good or even better. +22 on/off this season. Something only a small group of players ever reached. In the last 25 years only KG, Steph and Draymond.
Borderline insulting to even have the best player in the league discussion right now. All time debate would be a better topic. Jokic vs Shaq/Duncan/Olajuwon. Jokic vs Magic/Bird.

Jokic absolutely dominated the entire game. Things were a bit rocky early on, but after halftime the dude was locked in and just made play after play.
Averaged 30/14/7 on 58% shooting. Geez louise

He's clearly the game's best player. It's not even up for debate. He's the first player in NBA history to lead all players in points, rebounds and assists in the postseason. Denver has its core players under contract for 2 more years. They're set up for a nice run the next few seasons.

Just an incredible run.
I was thinking while they do it completely different is Jokic as dominant as prime Shaq? I would have laughed at that prior to this run, but the way he can dominate games doing everything is really impressive.
Jokic has the softest shot I think I have ever seen. He makes those 12 footers look automatic. They are a lot harder to do than that. Especially when you bodies all around you.
I am not sure what the stats say, but while he may never be all defensive Jokic has made himself into a good defender. He is huge and moves well. He has made several plays on defense in this series and while he may not block shots he has learned to be effective on defense..
Braun- Good series
Brown- Maybe the biggest basket of series with a rebound and putback to put them up by 1
Caldwell-Pope- Maybe the biggest defensive possession of series with a steal on Butler's pass.
Gordon- Did a lot of the dirty work guarding Butler and also scoring.
3 guys who were acquired this offseason and one in Gordon who as their Jrue Holiday type trade. That is how you build around a star(s).

Kidd has lost 3 assistants so far and the options around the league are becoming limited. Since they are interested in Van Gundy, they might as well give Mark Jackson a call too

I doubt if either Van Gundy or Mark Jackson is willing to give up those cushy chairs calling games, to go back to coaching. All three are stealing money...

Losing the shooting coach hurts, but to be honest under his tenure I don't think the Mavs were this elite shooting team, especially with free throws. Many people give him credit for JB and Dodo though, but how much can really be attributed to him when JB is thriving in NYK and Dorian looks like barely a rotation player with the Nets?
Mavs let go St. Jean themselves, so there had to have been a reason there. Who is the 3rd assistant that they lost? Are you talking about Darrell Armstrong? I don't think the Mavs let him go, even with his poor judgment driving while intoxicated.
The 1 assistant that will never happen but wish it did would be to hire Bud. No shot Kidd approves because Bud took over for him in MIL and immediately made that team good, but one can dream right?
