I guess we'll give them Bullock and a srp for their trash. That's a Cuban move.

Yeah I would have to assume Cuban's main goal this deadline would be to drop 5 to 10 mil in salary. Would help an absolute ton in when it comes to that luxury tax number.
Dumping Powell after signing McGee had to be the original idea but that's not exactly an option now so most likely Bullock or THJ outgoing with lesser money this year coming back

I've been thinking about this since the summer, and totally agree.
How much would they need to unload to be under the tax threshold for the season?

They're $15.8 mil over the tax threshold now
And these are the important levels
So dropping even a couple million would save a lot of money.
- For teams between $0 and $4,999,999 over the cap, the tax rate is $1.50 for every dollar over the cap.
- The incremental maximum for this level is $7.5 million.
- For teams between $5,000,000 and $9,999,999 over the cap, the tax rate is $1.75 for every dollar over the cap.
- The incremental maximum for this level is $8.75 million.
- For teams between $10,000,000 and $14,999,999 over the cap, the tax rate is $2.50 for every dollar over the cap.
- The incremental maximum for this level is $12.5 million.
- For teams between $15,000,000 and $19,999,999 over the cap, the tax rate is $3.25 for every dollar over the cap.

So I could see a Bullock + SRP for Reddish trade where they say we're getting younger
But then just let him walk in the summer.
That move alone would save around 4 million in salary and around 10 million in tax

Tbh, that wouldn't even bother me (unless he looks like he has something and they let him walk anyway).
I have no problem with Cuban watching his bottom line, that's just smart...as long as there's a plan to build a great team in motion and they find ways to save that don't interrupt the progress.

Why I'm still so surprised by the McGee move
That alone added almost $20 million to the bottom line (5.5 mil in salary and a crazy 15 mil in tax)

How about Bullock to the Knicks for Reddish, we get our 23 FRP back and give them the 2nd we have on hold
Save some money now and next year. Get younger(if Reddish proves worthy to be kept) plus Green/Hardy minutes. Plus we get to start our summer shopping now

How pissed do you think Cuban was when he realized Powell was still going to be the guy, even after committing to that?

Who says no…..
McGee to Boston for Gallinari. Boston needs an emergency center given TIme Lord’s health. Gallinari is out for the season and has a PO for 23/24. He makes about $1mm more this season, but you get out of McGee’s deal a year early.

I think you just identified why McGee will have value at the trade deadline.

I think Fred will cost more than Dinwiddie.
I don't have a lot of interest in Wiseman. He is a lottery ticket at this point. If we trading Wood, I would much rather go after somebody like Turner.
