Took me a sec to figure out what you were getting at here. You mean that the other most likely KD destinations are likely "no-go's" right? If so, maybe Maxey is enough to headline.

He's a great up and coming guy, but to be the center of a Durant deal? I differ from you there. The Durant parameters haven't changed much from the summer. He's still locked up and performing at an incredibly high rate. He's going to command at least a current all-star (or someone right on the edge). I don't think Maxey is there just yet. I agree that PHX and Boston might be hesitant to trade Booker & Brown but I think the PHX package has always been Ayton+Bridges+Crowder+picks and I still think that deal will be available come January.

If all we have to offload is a combo of THJ, Bertans, McGee, or Powell and some 2nd round picks to get Kyrie it’s a no brainer. He looks like he has so much respect for Luka when they played in Brooklyn and he wouldn’t think of himself as the #1. He would alleviate so many problems and teams wouldn’t know how to stop us on offense. Bonafide number 2 superstar and he idolized Kidd and we have an amazing culture we should just pull the trigger if he can be had for cheap. If he doesn’t work just let him walk in the off-season or keep him away from the team, but none of our fourth quarter issues would be happening with him on the team. Dinwiddie off the bench constantly attacking right after Kyrie or Luka is out of the game would be lethal, and Kyrie can play off the ball and won’t miss 3’s like everyone else. If they would include Seth in the deal too would be even better. He had some of his best years in Dallas and would be revitalized coming back. Pipe dream.

Powell is one of two guys consistently bringing that every night. Hard to trade him for just a guy in White, even if White could help allieviate the secondary creator issue off the bench. But I'm dubious if he could even do that. White is a meh player.

He would be more than sufficient for a 3rd guard imo

A lot of them self created. Okayish efficiency. Good outside shooting. I like Powell for what he can bring but he is a finished product. Not to mention that many on this board wanted to replace him with McGee just a few month ago. White has upside and that´s what the Mavs desperately need. A talent infusion. Giving up Powell is a small price. Even if the chances that White is more than just another 6th man type scorer are small.

I agree White's upside on paper is what the Mavs desperately need, but they also desperately need Powell as crazy as it is to say. Powell's energy has kept them in the majority of their games this year, and without him this team is probably sub .500. I was a big proponent for a guy like McGee but it has been disastrous. Trading Powell means we'd be relying on McGee more than I'm comfortable with. Now, should CHI throw in a guy like Drummond, who isn't known for his hustle but at least can give a different look than McGee I'm back in.

I think they have to take some (controlled) risks. But agree that if Powell is outgoing they have to make another move for a third big because McGee is unplayable

Given this teams desperate need for two way players, I don't find myself terribly excited by White, but you would probably have to pull the trigger if an expiring Powell is all it costs. That trade likely makes this team worse this season though. It means more minutes for McGee unless they can backfill Powell. |
