Trade & Free Agency 2026/2027
Can MLE contracts be done as 2 + 1 (TO)? Given our ‘28 ambitions, that’s the only way I would want an MLE signing.

I suppose I am in the minority that a Kawhi deal isn't that bad.

As long as it doesn't include any "real" FRPs. The Warriors 2030 FRP acts as a nice headliner and add in a couple of seconds.... Is it really that bad? Kawhi was a 2nd team All-NBA last year...

Miami Heat forward Andrew Wiggins is opting into his $30.2M player option for the 2026-27 season, sources told @ClutchPoints.

The underrated horror of a Kawhi acquisition (beyond all the other problems that everyone else pointed out) would have been that, presuming Kai was still here, Kawhi would have made sure to establish himself and Kai as the power dyad. Our young franchise player would have been relegated to third banana on his own team.

Oh wow. That really handicaps the Heat. They needed him to take a slight discount so they could fill out the roster.

Unless they are planning to trade Wiggins....

Maybe to Denver for Braun+Cam Johnson for Wiggins+Jovic?

Just in: Miami Heat forward Andrew Wiggins intends to a sign a three-year, $64 million contract to stay with the franchise, with a player option in the third season, sources tell ESPN. Heat executives and Wiggins' agents at CAA sports Steven Heumann and Andrew Morrison, as well

Considering that he just opted out of $30.2M that is more or less a MLE extension. Wouldn´t surprise me to find out that he will found an environmental company dedicated to cleaning the beaches of Miami to save the sea turtles.

I predict Mavs try to retain Williams.

He provided tons of offensive spark. No, he can’t shoot threes, and yes, he’s a liability on defense, but he’s got a superior NBA skill.

I think lots of other teams will be after him, as well. We’ll see if Dallas wants to pay more than vet min.

Wiggins will serve as a key starter alongside Heat stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo -- and Miami received his commitment on a $64M deal through 2028-29 (player option in 2028). He opts in for $30M in 2026-27 as part of the deal.

My brother in Houston says FVV has wiped his social media after opt in.  Speculation in Houston is a trade soon.

I’m not seeing any teams that seem to be getting better with these trade rumors.

I don’t think either the Hawks or the Heat will come out of the East.

I think it’s time to out-scout the league while everyone else is playing musical chairs with future hall of famers that are chasing rings.

Meanwhile OK is headed over the 2nd apron if they opt for another season of Dort. If they don’t win a ship this year (or even if they do) their owner (who seems to be blinded by competitive rage atm) is going to implode at some point and the team is going to get blown up when he does. If they max Chet it will be the death knell. But if they don’t then he walks.

So it´s actually a player option for 2028/2029 that is so low that Miami expects Wiggins to opt out in 2028, so they can chase  Luka Caleb Martin in 2028.

Does FVV fit this team pretty well...?

We'd have the smallest backcourt in the league, but the biggest front court to offset it with Cooper/Morez/Gafford

As a result of Wiggins' salary remaining the same for the upcoming year, the Heat are just about $20M from their hard cap.

To possibly bring back Norman Powell, they will need to trade Nikola Jovic and open additional funds.

Wiggins opting in makes retaining Powell harder.

Seems like with him not wanting to do a buyout that he had little interest in being a minimum player. So we will see what happens.   He wanted to hold onto those rights instead of losing them and playing for a contender at the end of the year

I haven't looked closely, but it feels like MIA only has room for minimum salary additions. So if KM wants more than that, not sure that MIA is his destination.

I'm a huge fan of FVV, he is very good defender (at least before the injury) and he would make a ton of sense offensively.  But he is 32.  Would not want to spend significant assets on him.

LeBron James will not leave the Lakers for the Warriors in free agency unless they trade for Anthony Davis, per @ShamsCharania.

If Golden State pulls it off, there’s a good chance LeBron will join Stephen Curry to make a title run.
