The point is that your chance of dying and severe illness is reduced a great deal. If you are not concerned with dying or severe long-term health effects, crippling medical bills (in the USA) and you have no compassion for others, then vaccination is indeed pointless for you.

Current stats show that vaccinated people are getting it, but have milder symptoms (or are asymptomatic) and less transmissible.
So, yeah, he's probably protected. Hopefully, most of the athletes have been vaccinated.
US has a 7-day moving average of ~32,000 new cases on 7/14. This is up from ~2100 on 6/10. Still not last winter, but the trend is a concern and seems to burn hottest in low vaccination areas (MS, AR, LA, OK, MO). 83% of cases where genetic sequencing was performed were the Delta variant. Deaths are up 48%, but typically lag the case surge by 4-6 weeks. This time it's not just the old people getting it. Some locales are starting to make noise about recommending masks again.

Ya, I have heard that LA is about to be shut down again. Also, why are people not as outraged by this as they were with Trump (not a Trump supporter in any way, I equally hate both parties)? I mean, at least it was a new thing with Trump...UGH, I just turned this into a political thing, I hate myself.

Yeah this ain´t over, until we either start vaccinating the whole planet, or shut off the "3rd world" travel, so these poor countries can develop their own mutations isolated and die peacefully out of our sights.

It's not just developing countries, though.
I heard just the other day that the state of Texas has plateaued at like 48% vaccinated. Bananas, imo. They're GIVING the vaccinations away and can't get people to take them.

True. Lot of people in developed countries (everywhere) don´t feel the need anymore, but the people we are talking about don´t even have access to any vaccines, while we throw them away, because nobody wants them. They simply need to make a better effort to distribute vaccines to all parts of the world. It should not be that difficult. Produce it, distribute it, give it. Done. Otherwise Delta will obviously not be the last mutation.

#merica Ya, my doctor's office called me to set up the first shot appointment. If everyone's doc office was doing that, that means people are saying no which is kinda odd.

USA lost vs. France. France with a 16-2 run in the clutch. Batum/Fournier hit big shots.

Fournier was by far the best player on the floor. Made some incredible shots in late shot clock situations. Nando de Colo has better intangibles/bball IQ than any player on team US. For whatever reason he couldn´t make it work in the NBA. Would love to have him on the Mavs but at his age that probably isn´t an option.

Green brings all the things that we saw when he was on the floor for the Mavs. Energy, hustle an defense. For a young player he already has really good defensive instincts. Knows how to read plays and knows the tendencies of his opponent.
Problem is the offense. Nigeria followed the NBA example and just left him wide open. His development as a shooter will determine his future in the NBA.

Because the previous administration mishandled, downplayed and unnecessarily politicized the pandemic, whereas the current one has done EVERYTHING they possibly can to take it seriously and get people vaccinated.
There are zero similarities in the handling of Covid by the two administrations/parties.

Still on record as hating both parties, but if the leadership is saying take off our masks and we're getting another outbreak, how is it different? Other than this administration has infinite more knowledge about this disease than the previous one.

As I would answer this question from Europe, and of course I am faaaar away and could be far off:
There is less outrage because Trump is not able to cause the same ammount of outrage against the LA politics without being the President and on Twitter. And of course it's nothing new.
