It's SO clear who's in charge now, finally, and I'm SO here for it.

We took a sharp left turn and braved some rough road to get here, but this is pretty much what many of us have been wanting for the past decade.

Keep cleaning house...start over from scratch and leave no traces of the old era(s). Next step is banning Cuban from the AAC so even he can't sit courtside anymore  Big Grin

I'm with you, but it's hard to forget the cost we paid to get here.

Better Schmitz interview. Seems really nice. Like Masai he has the ability to answer questions honestly but without giving anything away. Also, like Masai he never gives shade to anyone. They just seem more caring. Will they work out? Time will tell, but I am loving the first glimpse.

Cool stat about Dirk.

Super cool stat about Dirk - bad stat for the Mavs as an organization and Mark Cuban specifically.

Dirk brought everything to the table for 5+ titles in his career.

Good video.  Nice to hear a player's breakdown of all the games.  I still remember Dirk going into God-mode in the second half of the last game.  Nothing they could do.

Just reading between the lines of hearing Masai and Schmitz speak here are a few guesses.

1) the Head coaching hire will be Masai's.  He will be the bus driver.   They have surprised me with moves so far, but I expect the head coach to be on the younger side and a first time head coach.  Someone who they will want to grow with the roster.   I am not expecting a Billy Donovan type.

2)  They will pick who they feel will be the best player at #9.   If that is a guard, then it is a guard.   Although, I don't feel like they are only focusing on guards.

3) Masai seems to move fast when he makes a decision.  I don't expect we will hear much leaking on the coaching hire candidates.

4) While I thought this would be a relatively quiet offseason with player moves, I am not certain any longer.   While they want to win now, it seems they are really focusing on surrounding people who will be around Coop for a while.   It is interesting very little has been said about a lot of the veterans on the team.   Could be nothing though.

Agree with all of this.  I think the best player at 9 will be a guard, and I am getting more confident they will come to same conclusion.

Masai made it clear in that press conference that future takes precedence over winning now.  I am very curious to see what that means.

Really hoping #2 is true.  I know I'm overly negative on the outlook of the team, but even if I didn't think the team was far away from being in contention, I'll always prefer BPA over need.

I always said you flip Dirk and Duncan around the outcome is the next same. Dirk wins five rings and Duncan wins one. The difference was the ownership, nothing else.

Yea, this is the part I'm interested in.  I would have a hard time running that same group of dudes out there + healthy Kyrie.  I think the roster needs a lot of turnover.  But Gafford, PJ, Klay, Kyrie all seem to be at their lowest trade value right now or close to it so it doesn't seem like the perfect time to be moving them.

Agreed.  The goal may be to develop a functional roster to start the season and then trade some of those guys when their value is higher.

Because it stings…
And I think he’s in real fear that his sporting legacy will get overtaken in the near future, now that Patrick Dumbmont got legit basketball people for the jobs.
