Half of our roster is filled with interesting guys.
Super interested to see Morez next to Larrea and Nemby

It just struck me that having Mara as a partner in crime may have prepared MoJo well for a summer league and an NBA season playing next to a bunch of Euros.

I am just happy that they have multiple legit guards on the roster. Not Hinton, Hardy, Lawson or Reaves in a primary ballhandler role. A guard that is actually trying to run some kind offense instead of just watching guys play for their own numbers makes summer league way more enjoyable.

Man, that's so true. They are so hard to watch without true PGs (they may still be), but at least this looks like a roster with some real court time and experience at that position.

It was such a big difference when Nemby played vs. having to rely on Matthew Cleveland to make a PnR.
Excited to see this year too.

Here are some college highlights from a few years ago. It looks like he has been playing international since then
Already 26, so probably past the prospect age that you want to see how he develops over the next few years. He probably has glaring holes in his game, but man, what an athlete. Just crazy how good you need to be to make the NBA.

He was on the Mavs summer league roster in 2023. Basically didn't play (two games, less than 10 minutes in total).

Also on roster Ryan Nembhard and the 3 two-ways (Lawal, Poulakidas and Smith). Others of note former first round pick Jaden Springer (4 yrs and 110 NBA games with PHI, BOS & UT) and 2023 Mavs summer leaguer Kaodirichi Akobundo-Ehiogu. Heard quite a bit about him 3 years ago. Was told Kao works for his name. Amazing backstory. His parents passed away while he was growing up in Nigeria. Moved to DFW area to be with family here. Started basketball at age 13. Went from working at Home Depot to being a walk on UT-Arlington. Had two seasons there and transferred to Memphis for a year. Been in Europe for last three years and was 3rd in Liga ACB (Spain) in blocks last season.

Wow. Great story. Every year there are stories like this. Most come and go. You have to appreciate the grind though. A lot of really good basketball players just hoping for a chance. Limited spots though but it looks like he has found a place overseas.

Why is Ryan Nembhard playing for GSW Blue team? Or is this a different Ryan Nembhard?

Seems the box score maybe confusing him with RJ Nembhard

Grizzlies summer league starting five easily beats the team that closed the season for them.

So apparently our new coach - just hired today - for Summer League is Joe Boylan.
Boylan was originally slated to join the Bucks staff but changed his mind to join Dusty May and the Mavs. When I started reading about him, the whole article spun into a coaching technique called CLA - "Constraints Led Approach" to coaching basketball.
First, I found this article on Boylan ...
“After stints with five other NBA teams, including Memphis, Boylan was initially expected to reunite with Taylor Jenkins on his new Milwaukee staff. But I’m told Boylan is now Dallas-bound along with Willie Green,” Stein wrote, later adding that Boylan will coach the Mavs’ Summer League team. This has since been announced on the Mavericks’ official NBA.com page.
This is a disappointing outcome for the Bucks, with Boylan viewed as a perfect fit for a rebuilding Milwaukee team with plenty of young talent. Highly touted for his constraints-led approach (CLA) to coaching, Boylan seemed particularly ideal as a developmental coach for Nate Ament, Milwaukee’s 13th overall pick via the Miami Heat, given his success working with the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Jaden McDaniels, who followed a similar path to the NBA. Undoubtedly, Boylan would’ve been beneficial for the Bucks’ other prospects too, including 10th overall pick Brayden Burries, new acquisition Kasparas Jakučionis, the returning Ousmane Dieng, and the recently signed Bogoljub Marković."
Which led me to this web site on CLA coaching and what it means.

Grizzlies have a ton of young talent. They've totally remade the team. I expect them to be contending in the next few years.
